Pete Wicks is reportedly glad his brief relationship with Maura Higgins didn’t last as he tries to avoid drama.
The former TOWIE star, 37, and Maura, 34, were first linked in August last year, but MailOnline exclusively revealed that the former couple went their separate ways in February, Maura was later seen kissing McFly’s Danny Jones at the BRITs.
Sources have claimed that the ‘attention’ surrounding her kiss with Danny is exactly what Pete tries to avoid.
A source told OK! magazine: ‘This sort of attention is exactly what Pete doesn’t want.
‘He’s seen this sort of media circus happen when he was on TOWIE and it’s not the sort of relationship he wants.
‘It’s a shame because it will probably bring his guard back up and he just wants to find someone he can genuinely love.’

MailOnline has contacted Pete’s representative for comment.
Earlier this week, Pete failed to address former flame Maura’s kiss with Danny as he remained tight-lipped during an emotional Lorraine interview on Thursday.
The former Towie star appeared on the ITV show and spoke about his own mental health battles as part of the programme’s new mental health campaign March4March.
Pete, who recently split with Love Island star Maura bravely opened up to Lorraine about his struggles after losing his nan Doreen in 2022.
But during the chat he didn’t mention his ex Maura’s smooch with McFly legend Danny, 38, at the BRIT Awards on Saturday night.
Earlier this week footage shared with The Sun showed Maura and Danny, who has been married to wife Georgia since 2014, getting cosy at the London venue.
Danny and Georgia share a seven-year-old son called Cooper.
Meanwhile during his stint on Lorraine, he told the host why he wanted to get in touch with the important campaign.

Pete said: ‘For me, I love nature and I love getting out, and this is the perfect time to be doing it.
‘The sun is shining, there’s a little bit of Spring and it makes me feel better…
‘It’s a perfect opportunity to reflect, have a little bit of time to yourself, because I think it’s really important, as we all live such busy lives, to take a bit of time to reflect on where you’re at and where your head is at.’
Opening up about his own mental health, Pete said: ‘It took me a long time. I have made a lot of mistakes in my life and throughout that time, I think a lot of it is through not understanding myself and not being able to express how I was feeling, and I think a lot of men suffer with that.
‘Not just men, women as well, but not understanding your own emotions or not giving yourself time to understand your own emotions, they often present themselves in a different way.

‘For me it used to be anger, because that was the only kind of emotion that I understood.
‘As I’ve gotten older and over the last few years, through certain things that have happened, like losing my nan and whatever else, it’s enabled me to try and understand myself better.’
