BREAKING NEWS: Prince William showed up Harry and Meghan without them even knowing it

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have come under fire for their TV appearances in recent years. Following their bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2020, the couple has released several docuseries, including Harry & Meghan (2025) and With Love, Meghan (2025), which have received mixed reviews.
In the case of Harry & Meghan, some IMDb viewers criticised the series as a “self-serving” tool that felt “contrived” and “one-sided promotion,” while others praised it as “fascinating” and “insightful”. As for With Love, Meghan, the lifestyle series received an average score of 3.2/10 on IMDb, with viewers slamming the programme for feeling “inauthentic” and “staged”.
Unlike the Sussexes, however, Prince William’s TV appearances, albeit rare, have been received far more positively. Joining Hollywood legend Eugene Levy on his Apple show, The Reluctant Traveller (which aired last October), the royal invited the Schitt’s Creek star to Windsor Castle, where he arrived on a scooter, and took him on a tour of the grounds before heading for a pint at the pub.

At the time, William’s involvement in the series itself came as a welcome surprise, given that he rarely appears on television. “I absolutely loved the chat with Eugene Levy and Prince William. It was so natural and at ease. Far better than if he had sat down with the royal reporters,” tweeted one.
Meanwhile, a second wrote: “Eugene Levy is charming and lovely. It’s wonderful that he had such high praise for Prince William, but it’s not surprising. Clearly, they had great respect for each other & it made for an insightful & entertaining interaction & interview.”

Following the episode’s debut, Eugene also shared his praise for William, calling him “so down to earth. Very funny, very bright. Got to be honest, he was fun to hang with.” Of course, the response to William’s TV appearance wasn’t 100% positive, with some suggesting that his answers were “sanitised,” but in the grand scheme of things, the royal has enjoyed a much warmer reception than that of Meghan and Harry.

In this case, however, the key difference is that, while the Sussexes have positioned themselves at the centre of tell-all docu-series and unattainable lifestyle shows, William is far more selective and intentional with his on-screen appearances, which are rare in themselves.
As a result, when he does so, it feels more meaningful, and during this interview in particular, he appeared mindful of making Eugene feel comfortable rather than talking too much about himself. In essence, his interview with Eugene felt more grounded and authentic. There was no need for an expensive kitchen or designer clothes; what mattered most was two people enjoying a conversation outside, and it never felt like William was making Eugene’s show about him.
