Good Morning Britain presenter Richard Madeley has opened up about his marriage to TV host Judy Finnigan in a resurfaced interview
Good Morning Britain host Richard Madeley has opened up about his relationship with wife Judy Finnigan in a throwback interview, detailing their lives since ceasing to work together on TV projects.
The duo became household names as co-presenters on their Channel 4 programme, Richard and Judy, for eight years and were previously at the helm of This Morning for over a decade. Tying the knot back in 1986, they have become one of television’s most loved pairings.
Whilst Judy has decided to take a step back from the limelight, Richard still makes regular appearances on ITV’s GMB. Despite their diverging professional roads, the couple insisted, during an episode of Kate Thornton’s White Wine Question Time podcast, that they haven’t drifted apart in their personal life.
Richard fondly termed their partnership “semi-detached” to reflect their separate careers yet deeply interpersonal support for one another within their home life.

Discussing how they’ve remained united despite less collaborative work, Judy shed light on their tight bond, stating: “We are incredibly close, we always have been.”
She went on to say: “Obviously, I think working together for so long has bonded us more tightly than if we had two completely separate jobs.”
Reflecting on their past TV hosting synergy, Judy added: “I think the thing is, when you’re presenting a show like the kind that we presented, it’s very instinctive, you’re doing interviews all the time.”
She continued: “By the time I decided I’d had enough, you and I were something completely different anyway, it just didn’t matter, it didn’t make any difference at all.
“When you go and do GMB, I’m still here in bed, I’m happy to stay when he gets up, it doesn’t make any difference at all to our relationship.”

Speaking with host Kate, Richard admitted: “I can see that from the outside, it looks as if… as you say, we were bonded in our professional lives together and now we’re not, but actually, here on the inside, we still are.”
He also confessed: “So we’re not actually as detached, I suppose we’re a bit semi-detached, but we’re not detached in the way that it might seem to outsiders.”
Having tied the knot nearly four decades ago, Richard and Judy have carved out a blissful life together with their two children, Chloe and Jack, reports Cornwall Live.
