I HAVE NO REGRETS! – Piers Morgan Breaks his Silence on Good Morning Britain Exit with Shocking Meghan Markle Statement that Stuns the UK!
Piers Morgan has celebrated Good Morning Britain’s 10th anniversary with a social media post on X (formerly Twitter).
He wrote: “Happy 10th anniversary to Good Morning Britain. I spent five fun, eventful years there, and loved every minute. Here’s a picture of me on my first (April 13, 2015) and last (March 9, 2021) day… divorce is never easy!”
The show marks a decade on TV today (29 April), with Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley presenting. To mark the occasion, ITV viewers were shown a compilation of some of the programme’s biggest moments.
But why did Piers Morgan leave the show?
In March 2021, ITV announced that Piers Morgan had decided to leave the show.
It came after the presenter angrily walked off the set of the news show on March 8, 2021, after a heated conversation with his colleague, Alex Beresford, about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s TV interview with Oprah Winfrey.
At the time, the show had also received more than 40,000 complaints about Mr Morgan’s comments. He said he didn’t believe “a word” the Duchess of Sussex said after she told Oprah Winfrey that a senior royal made comments about her son’s skin tone and that she was refused help for her suicidal thoughts.
ITV’s statement read: “Following discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave Good Morning Britain. ITV has accepted this decision and has nothing further to add.”
Piers Morgan later took to his Mail on Sunday column to reveal what really happened that led to his exit.
He admitted he had “a bad night of broken sleep” before the events that led to him leaving the show.
He said that he was urged by other ITV executives to apologise but stood by his claims.
He wrote: “Suddenly, I reached a moment of total gut clarity: f*** it, I wasn’t going to apologise for disbelieving Meghan Markle, because the truth is that I don’t believe Meghan Markle. And in a free, democratic society, I should be allowed not to believe someone, and to say that I don’t believe them.”
Mr Morgan decided to apologise and agreed to “leave GMB with immediate effect.”
