Ellie Costello and Eamonn Holmes: Two Generations Co-Hosting GB News – Could This Be the Secret to the Show’s Appeal?

GB News presenter Eamonn Holmes, 65, and his youthful 31-year-old co-host Ellie Costello are bridging a significant generation gap. Ellie, who tied the knot with fiancé Gerard Durkan in London on April 12, fondly remembers “growing up watching Eamonn on telly”.
On the other hand, Eamonn, who was absent from the guest list at the intimate ceremony at Chelsea Old Town Hall, commented with mild surprise about her choice of a mini-dress for the occasion.
Eamonn remarked: “Notice she wore a short dress, I’d have never thought of that. But then she’s going to do it all again in the summer and it’ll be a big affair and a big party in the sunshine. It’s excellent news.”

Ellie, on the other hand, has shared her enthusiasm for landing her role alongside Eamonn at GB News, telling the Daily Mail’s Richard Eden: “I love working with Eamonn, I grew up watching him on telly, so to be sat alongside him is a pinch-myself moment.”
For the civil ceremony, Ellie chose an elegant ivory Meshki mini dress with long sleeves and button detailing.
She told reporters: “We had the most beautiful, intimate civil ceremony with our families. We’re now looking forward to our religious wedding in the summer in the south of France.”
The engagement between Ellie and Gerard was made public in November 2023, when Ellie took to Instagram to showcase her engagement ring in a post captioned: “There’s so little good news in the world right now… I hope you don’t mind me sharing some of my own. I said YES.”

Eamonn has been navigating more than his fair share of personal challenges, having announced his separation from Ruth Langsford after a 14-year marriage in May 2024. Eamonn has faced health struggles, undergoing spinal surgery and a double hip replacement, which he has said left him “basically disabled”.
He’s found companionship with new partner Katie Alexander, though their time together is limited. A friend of Katie, a 42-year-old counsellor, revealed she is “totally smitten” with Eamonn and committed for the long term.

The distance poses a challenge, with Katie based in West Yorkshire, approximately 200 miles from Eamonn’s residence in South-West London.
Her responsibilities as a mother to two teenagers and her counselling career, coupled with the distance, make frequent visits difficult.
Eamonn’s mobility issues add another layer of complexity, making travel to Yorkshire a challenge. Despite these hurdles, the couple is said to remain “optimistic” about their future together.
