Soccer Aid 2025 viewers ‘stop watching’ after complaints over ’embarrassing’ crowd
Soccer Aid viewers took to social media with fury after noticing crowds were only cheering at certain points of the star-studded charity match.

Soccer Aid has made its highly anticipated return to ITV screens with its star-studded annual football event to raise funds for UNICEF. With footballing legends, celebrities, and social media stars taking to the Old Trafford pitch, viewers noticed that the huge crowd was particularly excited about one star.
Among the big names playing on the grounds were Wayne Rooney, Angry Ginge, Denise Lewis, Paddy McGuiness, Bella Ramsey and One Direction star Louis Tomlinson. Viewers watching the live broadcast quickly took to social media with fury as they realised the crowd would only scream whenever Louis touched the ball. One raged: “All the idiotic girls screaming every time Louis Tomlinson touches the ball reminds me why I stopped watching.”

A second viewer raged: “The Louis Tomlinson screams are f****** embarrassing.”
“What’s the problem with the fans screaming when Louis touches the ball, if I’m screaming at home too, it’s a football match in a stadium where they want silence,” added another.
One demanded: ” Please can Louis Tomlinson come off the pitch to stop the screaming in the crowd. Imagine the tears if someone takes him out.”
“The fan girls literally screaming every time Louis Tomlinson touches the ball he defo hates it lmao,” remarked another.
Some saw the light-hearted side to the crowd’s reaction as a viewer said: “The cheers every time Louis has the ball is cracking me up,” as another echoed: “yk when Louis has the ball bc the crowd goes wild.” (sic)

This comes after the initial line-up which revealed Louis would be playing England alongside his girlfriend Zara McDermott’s ex-boyfriend, Sam Thompson.
Ahead of the annual charity match, a recent photo shows the two men on the pitch, seemingly engaged in conversation as Sam insisted there are “no hard feelings.”
This comes after he and the Strictly Come Dancing star Zara, 28, announced their split in January, following a relationship spanning over five years.
Zara quickly moved on with singer Louis, 33, and the smitten pair have been virtually inseparable since their relationship became public knowledge in March, as photos surfaced of the loved-up duo sharing a romantic dinner.
