Piers Morgan had a ruthless response to Rachel Reeves crying in Parliament – accusing the politician not telling the “truth”. The chancellor was seen with tears streaming down her face in the House of Commons yesterday (July 2) while prime minister Sir Keir Starmer seemed completely oblivious. Piling on the pressure, Tory leader Kemi Badenoch branded her “absolutely miserable”.
Less than 24 hours later, the Labour politician has opened up about her emotional display, explaining that she was “clearly upset” at the prime minister’s questions, explaining that she became overwhelmed due to “a personal issue”. Now, TalkTV star Piers has had his say after watching the jaw-dropping scenes play out on the airwaves.

Sharing Sky News’ segment on the chancellor’s update, he wrote: “She had a ‘personal issue’ so upsetting that it made her sob in the Commons yesterday, but just 24hrs later, she’s beaming like an ecstatic Cheshire car? Methinks we’re not being told the truth here…”
He left fans divided in the comments section, with one rushing to defend Reeves by saying: “At times, that’s simply how women process things – and there’s nothing wrong with that.
“Our bodies and hormones can make emotional responses harder to regulate, and that deserves understanding not judgement. While I may disagree with many of her decision, I wouldn’t make it a topic of criticism. Empathy doesn’t require agreement [shrugging emoji].”
Another agreed: “You obviously have never been around women” as a third echoed: “Crying don’t mean weak and smiling don’t mean lying. She went through hell and still showed up. That takes real guts.”
However, others agreed with Piers, with one user arguing: “Cr0c0dile tears for a sympathy vote maybe seeing as most of the country are looking elsewhere for government.”
Another echoed: “There’s more to this than meets the eye and Labour are not telling the public the truth as usual.” A third chimed in with: “She needs to resign! She’s disgraced this country and the £ proves it [shifty eyes emoji].”
Piers added that Reeves needs to “urgently clarify” what kind of personal matter led her to cry at PMQs, and tweeted: “I suspect Rachel Reeves won’t be Chancellor by the end of the day, and honestly she shouldn’t be if the (vital) job has reduced her to a public emotional wreck. Britain urgently needs strong, confident leadership.”
However, Downing Street has confirmed that she is “going nowhere” in the wake of questions raised about her future in politics.
