Prince Harry has been referred to as “poison for the monarchy” by a royal author who thinks his visit to Britain this week could simply damage the monarchy. The Duke of Sussex, who quit royal life in 2020, returned to his home country on Monday for a week full of non-royal engagements.

This included a visit to a children’s hospital, a one-year countdown to the Invictus Games event, goat yoga – and even a reunion with his father King Charles. Harry, 41, flew alone to Britain on Monday, but was joined by his wife Meghan Markle and their children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet this weekend for private family time in the UK. This is the first time the family of four have been in the UK together since 2022.

While Harry’s UK trip has, as always, divided public opinion, many have seen the fun-loving side to Harry that seems to have been missing for the last six years since he left the UK.

However, one royal author still thinks the duke is dangerous for the monarchy, summarising it in a brutal 7-word statement: “The man is poison for the monarchy.”

Speaking to The Daily Express, controversial royal author Tom Bower said: “The man is poison for the monarchy, and I think all the damage he and Meghan have done over the last 5 years, yes, there was again more damage, and the monarchy’s popularity has fallen.

“It needs to rebuild its popularity and rebuild its respect for people. And Harry’s presence in Britain just undermines that effort.”

While Harry and Meghan have been very vocal in their criticisms of the monarchy since they quit royal life six years ago, it seems King Charles is willing to forgive and forget.

This was shown by the fact he hosted the family, alongside Queen Camilla, at Highgrove on Friday.

As the meeting was a private family event, no photographs or information has been released.
