GB News presenters Ellie Costello and Alex Armstrong were joined on Wednesday’s edition of the breakfast show by royal correspondent Cameron Walker, who delivered some bad news to Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex.
The Duchess of Sussex is reportedly nervous about doing the school run while security for her family remains unsettled, a friend claims. Home Office minister Mike Tapp has now urged officials to “get on with it” and make a quick decision on Prince Harry’s police protection.
Harry and Meghan, along with their children Archie and Lilibet, have been living in California for six years since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex quit their royal roles in 2020 in search of personal and financial freedom from the monarchy. Now, upon their return to Britain, it is believed they will be residing in the Cotswolds, with the children enrolled in UK schools to start the new year in September. But in a devastating blow to the Sussexes’ Cameron suggested the couple may not get the protection they desire amid huge delay with Home Office and civil service officials coming to a decision on Harry and Meghan receiving taxpayer-funded security.
He said: “Mike Tapp has suggested the ‘police are not for hire’. The problem is the kind of protection Harry thinks he should get you cannot pay for because it sets a dangerous precedent for any Arab sheik or Russian oligarch can effectively hire the police for their own gain.
That’s why the law says Harry can not pay for his own protection.”
Ellie mused: “Is there something to be said Cameron about the fact that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have landed back in Britain. Nobody’s got a photograph of them getting off that plane.
They’ve managed to find a house, tour schools for their children. Nothing’s been leaked to the press. Is the argument here, the media isn’t as unrelenting that perhaps they have made out in the past?”
Cameron replied: “Well, absolutely. The risk management board that is looking at the management threat against them have already passed those findings.
Mike Tapp is saying the decision should only be based on what risk is against Prince Harry.”
Harry and Meghan landed in the UK on Wednesday (August 26), ahead of starting their new life back in England. The surprising U-turn comes following their private meeting with King Charles and Queen Camilla in July.
The pair are thought to be living in a non-royal residence in the Cotswolds, though this has not been confirmed.
