Kensington Palace thrilled royal fans today by releasing a video to celebrate Prince George’s 13th birthday. The new 18-second clip comes just hours after a brand-new photograph of the second-in-line to the throne was shared on social media.

The glossy video shows Prince George having fun on the beach, wearing the same sunglasses he recently wore at Wimbledon. It is understood that the footage, which features a special cameo appearance from George’s younger brother, Prince Louis, was captured earlier this year in Cornwall during the Wales family’s Easter break. The caption shared alongside the post reads: “Thank you for all the birthday wishes for George today [birthday cake emoji].”

In it, George can be seen playing cricket, climbing up rocky cliffs and spending time with his two pet dogs, Orla and Otto.

The brand new video comes just hours after Kensington Palace shared a new birthday picture of the Prince and Princess of Wales’s eldest child. The caption read: “Happy 13th Birthday, George!” It was shared alongside a party popper emoji.

The photograph was taken just after Trooping The Colour last month, which the family all attended together. The prince looks relaxed in the photograph as he stands with his hands in his pockets, his top shirt button undone, and his tie removed following the Trooping festivities.

The young prince will most likely be spending the day with his nearest and dearest, including his parents, Prince William and Princess Catherine, and his siblings, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

It will most likely be a special day for the family, especially as George is set for some big changes in the months ahead, including a move to Eton College.

Prince George was born on July 22, 2013, in the Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, West London and was named George Alexander Louis.

His birth was announced at the time by Buckingham Palace with a statement. The 2013 statement said: “Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 4.24pm. The baby weighs 8lbs 6oz.

“The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth. The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and members of both families have been informed and are delighted with the news.
“Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well and will remain in hospital overnight.”
