The momentum of the Indiana Fever’s huge wins over New York and Connecticut wore off over the past week in losses to the Golden State Valkyries and Las Vegas Aces. But while the team got back to .500 in yesterday’s win over the Seattle Storm, fans have grown worried for superstar Caitlin Clark.
Though the Fever beat the Storm, they did so in spite of Clark, not because of her. Clark had just six points in the game – her fewest in any game where she’s played at least 30 minutes – and committed eight turnovers. Over the past three games, she’s landed just one three-pointer in 23 attempts.
Clark’s overall accuracy has plummeted too. She’s had three of her four least accurate games of the season over the past four games.
On social media, fans are becoming very worried for Clark. As for who to blame, many are asserting that the demand she adjust her body language in-game is what’s causing this slump:
“Whoever at Fever organization told Caitlin Clark to tone it down or about body language needs to get away from CC as far as possible. These people aren’t helping her. They need to let Caitlin be Caitlin. You can see it affects her and she doesn’t seem very happy,” one Clark fan declared.
“I think someone advised Caitlin Clark to hold back on her expressions, body language, and passion after the Connecticut Sun game and that has led to a shift in her game style that is not working for her. #FeverRising,” another suggested.
“Commentator saying Caitlin Clark’s body language has been good even though her shot is struggling. Seems they all get their email talking points and push push push,” wrote a third.
“Caitlin Clark needs to check her body language I don’t even get mad when she turns it over because of how she reacts when her teammates do.”

The win over the Storm yesterday suggests that the Fever can still win important games even when Clark is having a bad night. Though the prior two losses indicates that those wins will be few and far between.
The Fever are 7-7 through 14 games right now. Last season they didn’t reach .500 for the first time until the final few weeks of the season.
The sooner Clark gets her head on straight, the sooner the Fever can get back on track for real.
