WORSE THAN WHAT TV SHOWS – Los Angeles SINKS IN S0RR0W – GMA Hosts Michael Strahan, Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos stunned On Air!

As of Jan. 24, Good Morning America’s SoCal Strong fund has raised over $9.7 million for victims of the L.A. w!ldf!res (wildfires → w!ldf!res) thanks to a $500,000 donation from Thrive Causemetics and Bigger Than Beauty Skincare.

On Jan. 17, anchors Robin Roberts (64) and Michael Strahan (53) had a m!dn!ght (midnight → m!dn!ght) wake-up to go live from Los Angeles, witnessing firsthand the dev@st@tion (devastation → dev@st@tion). Right after landing, they rushed to Altadena to meet families like the Jenkins family, who lost nine homes yet vowed: “We’re rebuilding. We’re not going anywhere.“

Roberts recalled what her exec producer, who’d been with her in Kiev when w@r (war → w@r) broke out, warned: “Be prepared. It’s worse.” And seeing it, Roberts admitted it felt “even worse than TV shows.“
They spoke with Walt, an 83-year-old whose emotional interview went viral as he broke down over all he lost. Yet his courage lifted the team’s spirits: “We came to lift them up, but they lifted us,” Roberts said.
The anchors also honored firefighters Charlie Hawes, Chien Yu, Jerry, and Isaac, who lost their own homes saving others. Hawes, still in his gear after a shift, joined GMA to represent fellow firefighters before heading home for brief family time. “They always think beyond themselves,” Strahan reflected.
Despite sorrow, everyone shared the same vow: “We’ll rebuild. This is our legacy.“
