BBC Flooded With Complaints As Furious Fans Reveal What They Found ‘Excruciating’

The latest episode of BBC’s Mastermind left viewers furious as they raced to complain about the programme. Clive Myrie was joined by four new contestants, Ria, Josh, Gurdas, and Briony, all of whom were hoping to excel in their chosen specialist subject. Ria chose British Bird of Prey, Josh opted for James Bond, the Roger Moore years, Gurdas answered questions on King Charles I, while Adam was quizzed about American writer Sylvia Plath.
However, the contestants failed to impress viewers as all of them failed to reach double digits after the first round. The results left viewers complaining about the standards of the show dropping, with one writing on X: “What has happened to Mastermind?? I remember when contestants were getting more than 30 points.”

A second fumed: “Why some individuals put themselves forward as contestants on #Mastermind with such obvious abysmal general knowledge, I will never understand! It’s excruciating to watch, so I dread to think what they go through themselves. Why do it?”
A third said: “I watched #Mastermind with Magnus when I was a kid and I swear that people have become more thick as the decades have rolled on.”
Another weighed in: “What’s the criteria for getting on Mastermind these days? ‘Do you want to be on Mastermind?’ ‘Yes.’ ‘Ok.’

A fifth added: “Not the best of episodes so far is it.”
While another claimed: “Wow, the standard of contestants has gone down a lot.”
Once the four players had completed their specialist subject rounds, they were then challenged to answer as many general knowledge questions as possible within two and a half minutes.
Unfortunately, their performances fell flat once again, with Josh winning the competition with 15 points. He ended on the same score as Briony, however, came out on top because she passed on more questions.
Ria finished on 12, while Gurdas came in last with 10 points.
The complaints continued once the show had ended, with one branding it as one of the worst episodes they have seen.
They said: “Not sure if stats are kept but I think I just watched the worst episode of #mastermind in living memory.”
Another added: “15 points and four passes gets you to the semi-final? The mind boggles…”
A third posted: “#mastermind well that was terrible. Over to only connect now.”
