BBC’s hit quiz show, Only Connect, returned to screens on Monday (July 20), with host Victoria Coren at the helm, as two teams compete to find the connection between unlikely clues. During the episode’s first round of sequences, the players were tasked with figuring out what ties Karl Lagerfeld, weightlifters, Claudia Winkleman and Fagin together. During a bonus chance, one contestant successfully guessed “fingerless gloves.”
Victoria then explained that the late fashion designer didn’t like the look of his hands, whereas weightlifters wear them for gripping. She added: “Claudia Winkleman, fashion icon, everybody wants to wear what she wears. It’s fingerless gloves on the Traitors and Fagin on the end.”

Victoria then dished on her friendship with the former Strictly host and joked: “As someone whose had lunch with Claudia Winkleman on many occasions, I’d say there are lots of connections between her and Fagin.”
While the teams roared with laughter, Victoria backtracked: “That’s so unfair, she’s actually very quick to pick up the bill, I should say that.”
BBC viewers took to the comments with their reactions to the host’s admission, as one claimed: “No one wants to wear what Claudia Winkelman wears.”

Another defended Claudia’s fashion decisions and responded: “I do! Trouble is, she’s thinner and better looking than I am. I love the clothes that she wears in Traitors.” Meanwhile, a third remarked: “Victoria and Claudia having lunch! I’d buy tickets for that!”

Victoria and Claudia have been “best friends” for decades, with their bond dating back to childhood. The Traitors presenter was also a bridesmaid at Victoria’s 2012 wedding to comedian David Mitchell.
The Only Connect host previously shared: “Claudia’s the most totally loveable person in the world. She’s super-smart, quick, clever and funny, but combines that with incredible kindness and loyalty.
“She wears her fame very lightly because she doesn’t take it seriously; she works hard, but she’s committed to a set of priorities that puts family and friendship first.”
While Claudia called Victoria her “best friend in the whole world,” and told The Times that she’s a “cleverer, funnier, sexier version” of herself.
