Susanna Reid showed off her glamorous hair transformation as she returned to Good Morning Britain on Monday after an extended break – but her co-host Ed Balls admitted that he wasn’t impressed.

Over the past two weeks, the 54-year-old has been enjoying some time away from the ITV show during the Christmas holidays.

During Monday’s instalment of the breakfast TV programme, Susanna brought up her stunning new look.

The presenter decided to chop her hair off for a bob back in September 2023 – but now she’s got longer blonde locks.

Susanna told viewers: ‘I feel like one of those women from the hair dresser…’ as she flicked her hair off her shoulders.

She then turned to her co-star Ed and giggled: ‘Have you noticed anything?’

Co-star Kate Garraway asked: ‘Ed, do you like it?’

Ed brutally replied: ‘Well… I liked it when it was short.’

‘I know,’ Susanna awkwardly said.

Ed continued: ‘I really like it short.  Do  you remember when we had the interview with Cher? Cher said keep your hair long! I thought “no, you’re wrong Cher!”‘

Many took to X to share how much they loved her look.

One said: ‘@susannareid100 I think your hair looks lovely and much better longer.’

Another added: ‘Susanna’s hair looks gorgeous whatever the style.’

It comes after Susanna made her new hair style debut on her Instagram on Sunday night.

The journalist took to her page to show off her look with a make-up free selfie.

Susanna captioned the post: ‘NEW YEAR NEW HAIR!

‘After having THE CHOP in 2023, pop idol Cher told me women should keep their long hair so I am turning back time and going LONG for 2025 with hair extensions put in by @christinabhair.

‘Let me know what you think – and see you tomorrow @gmb.’

Her co-star Kate Garraway wrote in the comments section: ‘Looking fab!!!’

Trisha Goddard said: ‘I’m a big fan of extensions, so yay!!!’

Doctor Amir Khan added fire emojis.

Susanna has previously spoken out about her choice to change up her hair.

The star previously told Fabulous magazine: ‘Carly, the lady who cut it for me, told me that the following week one of her clients came in and asked if she could have her hair done “like Susanna Reid off the telly.”

‘It’s actually a little harder to manage when it’s shorter, because it needs to be styled properly.’

In December GMB saw a double hosting shake-up on Monday as both Susanna and Richard Madeley were left missing from the show.

They were actually replaced by Ed and Kate Garraway, both 57.

Many weren’t very happy and took to X to complain.

One viewer wrote: ‘@GMB Ed Balls & Kate Garraway presenting, no thanks, not for me. Serious journalism please.’

Another accused Ed of not being qualified for the hosting role and one said: ‘Get ed balls off the tv he’s a proper b*****d not a clue what he’s doing’.

Susanna joined the Good Morning Britain team in 2014.
