Head coach Thomas Tuchel has the chance to lead England to their first World Cup final since 1966 as they face Argentina. As the Three Lions gear up to play their old rivals for a place in Sunday’s World Cup fans are eager to secure victory against the South American squad.
The BBC spent most of this World Cup broadcasting from its studio in Salford, Greater Manchester. But tonight’s massive semi-final against Argentina comes live from Atlanta, Georgia. However, just minutes before kick-off, viewers took to social media and issued the same complaint.

Football fans were shocked to see BBC’s main presentation team is now on the ground in the US for the first time this tournament. Mark Chapman is presenting tonight’s England vs Argentina semi-final live from Atlanta, rather than from the corporation’s Media City studio in Salford. He is joined by pundits Wayne Rooney, Micah Richards and Joe Hart.

A second echoed: “I see that the BBC pundits have finally bothered their arse to travel out for the World Cup.”

“What have the BBC finally wasted our licence fee money and gone to the World Cup,” a third remarked.
Another penned: “So the BBC managed to do the world cup so far from a studio in the UK and putting up QR codes telling people to pay their TV tax are able to fund a ‘we were there jolly’ at our expense…”
A fifth said: “BBC actually made it to the World Cup. Crazy.”
While others applauded the corporation as another tweeted: “Remember all that nonsense about the BBC presenting the World Cup from Salford while ITV1 was actually IN one of the host countries?! Tonight, one of them presents LIVE from a stadium for the first time. Which one? Yes, the BBC!”
Ahead of the World Cup, the BBC opted to stay in Salford throughout the tournament, unlike ITV, who have been presenting from their North American hub.
ITV has been broadcasting throughout the tournament from a rooftop studio next to the Brooklyn Bridge with views of the Manhattan skyline.
