Prince Harry and Meghan Markle appear to have received an unexpected popularity boost following their return to Britain, with visitors reportedly flocking to see their wax figures at Madame Tussauds London.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s statues were moved into the attraction’s Culture Capital zone shortly after their UK comeback was announced.

They now stand alongside some of Britain’s most recognisable figures, including Sir David Attenborough, Harry Kane, Idris Elba, Benedict Cumberbatch and Eddie Redmayne.

Yet according to one onlooker, it was Harry and Meghan who attracted particularly strong attention, with some visitors apparently walking past other famous faces to take photographs with the Sussexes.

Visitors reportedly make a beeline for the Sussexes

“It’s crazy how many people wanted pictures of the Harry and Meghan waxworks in particular,” the observer claimed.

“They seemed to be among the most popular ones there, which was a surprise.”

The witness added that visitors appeared willing to overlook several celebrated British actors as they headed towards the royal couple’s figures.

“People were skipping past the likes of Eddie Redmayne and Benedict Cumberbatch to glimpse the Sussexes,” the onlooker said.

Although those observations represent only one account from inside the attraction, they suggest public curiosity surrounding Harry and Meghan remains extremely strong.

The couple’s departure from royal duties in 2020 triggered years of controversy, interviews and competing claims about their relationship with the Royal Family. Their decision to return to Britain with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet has consequently placed them back at the centre of the country’s royal conversation.

Could their British return revive their public profile?

The Sussexes spent nearly six years building a new life in California after stepping back as senior working royals.

During that period, they launched several commercial and media projects, including a Netflix documentary series. Harry also released his memoir, Spare, while Meghan developed her lifestyle business.

Their return to the UK has now created a different kind of opportunity. Even though Harry and Meghan are not expected to resume royal duties, living in Britain places them closer to the institution that originally made them global figures.

The Madame Tussauds response could be an early indication of how much public interest still surrounds them.

The onlooker suggested the couple might discover they have “more stardom coming back home than they’ve had in America”.

That claim remains speculation rather than evidence of a broader shift in British public opinion. A busy group of visitors around two wax figures cannot establish whether the Sussexes have regained widespread support.

It does, however, demonstrate their enduring ability to command attention.

Should William and Kate be concerned?

The renewed fascination has inevitably raised questions about how Harry and Meghan’s profile could compare with that of Prince William and Princess Kate.

There is currently no indication that the Prince and Princess of Wales are concerned about the popularity of the Sussexes’ wax figures or view their return as a competition for attention.

William and Kate remain central working members of the monarchy, while Harry and Meghan are returning as private individuals without official royal roles.

Their positions are therefore markedly different, even if their public profiles continue to overlap.

For the Sussexes, the immediate challenge will be turning curiosity into lasting goodwill. Their previous criticism of the monarchy remains controversial, and their relationship with several senior royals is reportedly still strained.

Nevertheless, the interest at Madame Tussauds offers Harry and Meghan a small but noticeable victory at the beginning of their latest British chapter.

Whether that attention develops into a genuine revival of their popularity remains uncertain. For now, however, visitors appear eager to see the couple back among Britain’s biggest names.
