BREAKING NEWS: Meghan Markle faces humiliating blow in Cotswolds but it will be down to Jeremy Clarkson
Jeremy Clarkson could do the most hilarious thing

Jeremy Clarkson once said he “hates” Meghan Markle. In one of his Sun columns, which he was later forced to apologise for, he admitted he was “dreaming of the day” Meghan would be “made to parade naked through the streets of every town in Britain while crowds chant, ‘Shame!’ and throw lumps of excrement at her” in a “clumsy” reference to a Game of Thrones scene.
Safe to say there’s no love lost between the pair. Meghan lives just down the road from Clarkson now, having moved to the Cotswolds with her husband Prince Harry – and appeared to ‘snub’ Clarkson’s pub The Farmer’s Dog for another Burford venue for a meeting with Ellen DeGeneres and her wife Portia de Rossi.
Now, though, Clarkson has the opportunity to do something hilarious – add Meghan’s name to the list of ‘banned’ celebrities at his pub. So far, former prime minister Sir Keir Starmer, Clarkson’s ex co-stars James May and Richard Hammond, and someone named Maddy Hornby – who complained about the lack of Tabasco at the pub – are banned from entry.
No Labour MPs are welcome at the pub either. That would make Meghan part of an elite group of people – and we all know she loves that feeling of exclusivity and celebrity.
Playful as the bans on Clarkson’s former Top Gear colleagues might be, I doubt the ban on Meghan would carry quite the same humour. Meghan clearly knew her first public outing in the UK would be met with media interest and scrutiny. She also likely knew she was close to The Farmer’s Dog when she chose another pub.

Obviously, there’s no obligation to visit a pub owned by a man who has publicly advocated for people throwing faeces at you in the streets, but I’d wager she wanted to send a statement by heading to a rival venue just 20 minutes down the road. After all, Meghan could have chosen to meet Ellen at a restaurant instead, or gone for a shopping spree, or kept the whole thing under wraps.
But the duchess herself hasn’t exactly painted herself in glory since moving back to the UK. She and Harry are already insisting they deserve taxpayer-funded security; they’ve pulled their children out of prep school just days into the new term because the journey there was too hectic; essentially, Meghan is once again treating her quasi-royal lifelike a soap opera.
So now Clarkson has the opportunity to do something very funny. Add Meghan’s name to the banned list, and it will be another chink in her armour. Ironically, if done in jest, it could even go a long way to repairing Jeremy’s relationship with the duchess and to putting their feud behind them.
Who knows, if the pair begin ribbing each other in public, we could soon expect a collaboration between Hawksmoor and As Ever.
