GB News presenter Patrick Christys became emotional in France as he confronted a group of illegal immigrants intending to cross the English Channel by small boat. The star was filming for a news segment with a camera crew when he claimed they were “held at 𝘨𝘶𝘯𝘱𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘵” by French police, with one migrant stealing one of the crew’s microphones and “attacking” the crew.
Patrick claimed on X: “Armed French police held me and my @GBNews team at 𝘨𝘶𝘯𝘱𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘵 and allowed a load of illegal immigrants to invade Britain.” Footage then showed him following immigrants to a beach and a woodland, where they bedded down to sleep for the night as the crew tracked one of the small boats.
He said: “We’ve got a load of illegal immigrants out towards the beach, we’ve got gendarmerie and then behind us there are even more illegal immigrants. We are right in the middle of it here.
“We actually think all of the illegal immigrants are here. You can hear them. They just outfoxed the French police by hiding in a ditch. French police just walked down that way!”
He then called out to one of the officers: “Are you just going to walk past them? Just in case you missed them, mate, they’re just here! The illegal migrants are here! Chaps, they’re here! No? Okay.
“At what point will the French police step in and say no?”
In a hushed voice, Patrick said: “This is an incredibly risky thing that we’re doing here. These human traffickers… each boat crossing can earn them hundreds of thousands of pounds. Who knows what they might be capable of doing in order to protect their revenue stream, their income, their cash?

“There’s people asleep here in the woods. There’s a pram there – there’s a woman with a newborn baby, a very young baby. He’s asleep. There’s two sides to this, isn’t there? I feel for people. I’m an emotional guy. I don’t want to see a woman and an infant crossing the Channel.”
He became visibly troubled, scrubbing his hands across his face and looking as though he might break down in tears as he said: “I’m sorry but I have to say this, and people are going to slate me for it, but I have to say it – what kind of mother would have an infant child, drag them around northern France and goodness knows what other countries, leave them out in the open in the woods with goodness knows who…
“You’re going to put that tiny little baby on a boat and take it across the busiest shipping lane in the world?”
