Prince William has allegedly got “absolute contempt” for his estranged brother, Prince Harry, following his five-day trip to the UK, a royal expert has claimed. The Duke of Sussex began his visit to Britain on Tuesday, following a whirlwind few weeks marked by various statements from both his camp and the royals about his accommodation and travel plans ahead of his arrival.

The two feuding brothers were 12 miles apart on Tuesday, when the Duke began his first day of engagements in central London, and William was seen visiting a Welsh school on the west side of the capital.

Speaking about the ongoing rift before Harry’s visit began this week, royal commentator Duncan Larcombe told the Mirror: “Harry almost certainly won’t see William and [Catherine].

“From everything I’m told, William still has absolute contempt for his brother and sees what he has done as the ultimate betrayal – which isn’t surprising when you consider what Harry wrote about in his autobiography Spare.”

The Duke of Sussex made a series of allegations against the Royal Family in his bombshell memoir, released in 2023, including that of an alleged physical altercation between him and William.

The royals have not commented on the claim.

Mr Larcombe added: “Harry broke the golden rule that you don’t go public with things that are private among the Royal Family.”

It comes as the Duke of Sussex lost a High Court privacy case against the publisher of the Daily Mail on Tuesday.

Harry was part of a group of household names, also including Sir Elton John, Baroness Doreen Lawrence, Liz Hurley and Sadie Frost alleged that acts including voicemail interception, landline tapping and obtaining information by deception – known as “blagging” – were carried out by private investigators, freelance journalists and staff at Associated Newspapers Ltd (ANL).

ANL denied the claims as it defended the cases, which it also said had been brought too late. Mr Justice Nicklin said that none of the seven had proved the allegations of unlawful information gathering.
