The global pop-star is set to marry American football favourite Travis Kelce

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce announced their engagement on August 26 with a loved-up post to social media and it seems the royals are pretty impressed.

The Shake It Off singer and her American football star boyfriend shared the news with a string of smitten snaps, were they were seen embracing beneath a sprawling archway of flowers against an idyllic forest backdrop.

Taylor and Travis gushed to Instagram: “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”

Of course, a slew of fans flocked to social media to share their reactions.

One penned: “Can’t move on from Taylor Swift’s engagement btw.”

“It’s a love story, Taylor just said YES! Congrats to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce on their engagement,” praised another

“Taylor swift and Travis Kelce got some of the most beautiful engagement photos,” said a third.

“TAYLOR IS ENGAGED EVERYONE OMGGGG! HER LOVE STORY CAME TRUEEEEE,” chimed in a fourth.

Meanwhile, according to People, a look into those who “liked” the news shows that the Prince and Princess of Wales’ joint social media page gave the post a congratulatory double tap.

Meghan Markle shares her ‘approval’ following Taylor Swift engagement announcement

It isn’t much of a surprise that the Waleses have shared their support as Prince William, Prince George and Princess Charlotte are known to be fans of the star.

Just last year, the Prince of Wales took George and Charlotte to an Eras Tour show in London, on his birthday.

At the time, William and Charlotte were spotted dancing in the stands to Swift’s performance of Shake It Off.

They also snapped a selfie with the superstar backstage. Taylor shared the photo to her Instagram. She penned in the caption: “Happy Bday M8! London shows are off to a splendid start.”

Prince William and Taylor Swift’s friendship

Prince William has known Taylor Swift for some time. They even shared the stage in 2013, where they performed Livin’ On A Prayer with Jon Bon Jovi during a charity event at Kensington Palace.

It comes shortly after Travis Kelce’s brother Jason expressed his fears of “disrespecting” Prince William when he met the prince backstage last year.

He said during a recent episode of his New Heights podcast that he worried about holding a beer whilst greeting Wills.

Taylor, who was making a guest appearance on the podcast joked in reply: “I watched him have this moment with his beer where he was like, ‘But I want to take it. But I know that I probably should not take it.’”

The Love Story hitmaker continued: “I watched this happen. And it kind of was the most amazing…”

At the time of writing, Taylor’s engagement announcement post has 28 million likes.
