Comedian and BBC star Angie Le Mar has revealed she is recovering after a horror fall saw her rushed to hospital. The 60-year-old mum of three took to Instagram to share an image of her leg in a cast up to the knee with crutches beside her. Explaining what happened, she penned: “So, Friday after I just finished swimming, proud of my 32 lengths, 50 is standard. Did my little shopping, planning on going to my school friends’ 60th, Happy Birthday, Marilyn.
“Then one step threw me on the pavement, flung me into a parked car, like I was checking the tyres. Pain was mad!!! Lewisham hospital last night, cast on, ruptured Achilles heel, jeez, what in the David Haye is this??? The hospital called back to say, come back, we need to cast it again, supporting the feet in the position of a ballerina, watch me in the Nutcracker soon!” she quipped.
She concluded the post: When things are happening in life, things will happen. But me, I’m walking by faith, trust the almighty with the plan. Respect to those who walk with crutches because it ain’t easy.”
Support flooded in for the funny woman as people read her post. “Oh, Angie, wishing you a speedy recovery … and look at how you’re making laughter out of this. Your faith will speed up your healing girl,” radio presenter Angie Greaves commented.
A Place In The Sun star Leah Charles King wrote: “Oh no! Sorry to hear this. Wishing you a speedy recovery Queen.”
Actor and BBC radio star Eddie Nestor chimed in: “Sorry to hear this queen. Maybe you can take a rest. We have work to do. Love,” followed by a heart emoji.

Singer Wendi Harriot shared: ” Angie – The only person that has the ability to make you cry real tears of laughter in serious situations – You are blessed and highly favoured – Your recovery will be super speedy IJN. Love you.”
Meanwhile, actor Tanya Moodie simply said: “Darling. I’m so sorry!! Sending healing energy.”
Angie has enjoyed a four-decade career as a comedian, actor, writer, director, presenter and producer. She plays the mother on Rum Punch, her son Travis Jay’s award-winning BBC Radio 4 sitcom about a Caribbean restaurant in Lewisham.
She also starred in The Real McCoy, the iconic 1990s BBC sketch show celebrating Black British comedy.
