Volodymyr Zelensky sent a personal message back to the royal family…
Volodymyr Zelensky thanked King Charles for his kind and ‘inspirational’ words in a personal letter written to the president to mark Ukraine’s Independence Day.
The monarch mentioned his wife Queen Camilla in the private letter as well, which was shared on social media.
It comes after King Charles has shown support to Ukraine as the conflict with Russia continues, following peace talks breaking down this month between the two nations.

Volodymyr Zelensky thanks King Charles for his letter for Ukraine’s Independence Day
The Ukrainian president hailed the monarch as a “true inspiration” after reading the letter of support and posted about the exchange on X (Twitter).
In the letter for Ukraine’s Independence Day, King Charles spoke of his “greatest and deepest admiration for the people as they continue defending their country against the invasion.
He also called for a “just and lasting peace” for the country.
He wrote: “I keep feeling the greatest and deepest admiration for the unbreakable courage and spirit of the Ukrainian people.
“I remain hopeful that our countries will be able to further work closely together to achieve a just and lasting peace in Ukraine.”
Mr Zelensky wrote he was “grateful to His Majesty King Charles III @RoyalFamily” for their wishes to all Ukrainians on Independence Day.
He added: “His Majesty’s kind words are a true inspiration for our people during the difficult time of war.
“We appreciate the United Kingdom’s leadership in supporting Ukraine and our just cause: to defend freedom from tyranny and ensure a lasting peace in Ukraine and throughout Europe.”

Monarch gives Zelensky warm welcome at Sandringham
It comes after the king held a reception for Mr Zelensky in March, following his fiery exchange with US President Donald Trump in the Oval Office.
Royal sources said the two heads of state enjoyed tea inside Sandringham’s Saloon room and that Charles ‘warmly receives’ Zelensky.
The Ukrainian president later called the exchange a ‘very good meeting’.
He told reporters: “I’m very grateful for this meeting and for how His Majesty helps Ukraine and supports us.

“He’s met our warriors here, being trained in the UK, and we’re very thankful to the Royal Family for their support.”
It’s not the first time King Charles expressed support for Ukraine, saying the country experienced “indescribable aggression” following an “unprovoked attack” from Russia.
He said last year that the Ukrainian people showed “truly remarkable courage and resilience in the face of such human tragedy”.
