BBC Strictly has shared what the couples will be dancing this weekend
Viewers of BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing have reacted with fury after learning that contestant George Clarke will perform his Couple’s Choice routine to Soda Pop from K-Pop Demon Hunters during Movie Week.
The announcement, made through the programme’s Instagram account revealing dance assignments for the themed week, prompted an immediate backlash from supporters of the social media personality.
Multiple fans took to social platforms to voice their displeasure, with one writing that the decision had made them “genuinely angry and upset” for the contestant.
One shared: “Nah that’s not on, why are they wasting George’s couples choice so early on a s***ty song? #Strictly.”

Strictly Come Dancing fans expressed outrage over George Clarke’s upcoming dance
“MAKING GEORGE DO HIS COUPLE’S CHOICE TO SODA POP????? I’m sorry that’s genuinely made me so angry and upset for him, it’s literally called couple’s CHOICE, it makes no sense when soda pop is a salsa song #Strictly,” another penned.
“George and Alexis got wronged, they’ll still somehow find a way to make Soda Pop good though,” another wrote.
“So upset for George what the f***, he should’ve got given a Salsa/Samba for that song instead of them wasting his Couple’s Choice dance on week 3 to a song he doesn’t even know #Strictly.”
“George being the first celeb to do a couple’s choice this season of #Strictly and he’s doing it to soda pop for k – pop demon hunters,” another posted.
A sixth commented: “Interesting that soda pop is a couples choice! Excited to see what Alexis is gonna bring to the table choreo wise.” (sic)
The song selection has particularly frustrated fans who believe Soda Pop would be better suited to Latin dance styles like salsa or samba.
Despite the controversy surrounding his upcoming performance, Mr Clarke has demonstrated strong form in the competition’s opening weeks.
The 25-year-old secured third position on the leaderboard across the first fortnight, sitting behind Lewis Cope and Amber Davies.
His Paso Doble to Game of Survival by Ruelle earned 30 points from the judging panel, with Shirley Ballas identifying him as a potential frontrunner.
However, Mr Clarke recently disclosed on The Useless Hotline Podcast that he had required urgent physiotherapy treatment after sustaining a back injury during rehearsals.
The content creator explained that a handstand attempt went awry, resulting in a pinched nerve that necessitated acupuncture and four physiotherapy sessions.
He chose not to mention the injury during his television performance, declining producers’ offers to reference it in his pre-recorded segment.
During Tuesday’s It Takes Two programme, presenter Janette Manrara discussed Mr Clarke’s previous performance with former professional dancer Joanne Clifton.
Mrs Clifton noted that whilst Mr Clarke displayed impressive lines with “the energy of a violin string when it is pulled tight,” judge Motsi Mabuse had identified a need for improved fluidity between movements.
The choreographer observed that transitions between steps appeared disconnected, suggesting Mr Clarke needed to work on creating smoother connections throughout his routines.
