Meghan Markle has suffered another major blow live on GB News as the Duchess of Sussex prepares to move back to the UK. The mum-of-two’s acting career in the UK has been shrouded in mystery this week after new reports claimed her casting has been withdrawn. The former Suits star was reportedly in talks to return to Hollywood, which would coincide with her relocating back to the UK, six years after leaving the country and moving across the pond.
It is understood that Prince Harry’s wife is in early discussions about a possible role in the third series of Guy Ritchie’s Netflix hit, The Gentlemen, Deadline reported. The show, starring Theo James and Kaya Scodelario, has yet to be renewed for a third series.

On Monday morning (August 24), a GB News royal correspondent joined Camilla Tominey in the studio to break down the latest developments surrounding the Sussexes’ return to the UK. Broadcaster Cameron Walker disclosed that a source close to the royal couple revealed Meghan was “in discussions” with Netflix to star in the third series of The Gentlemen.
He went on: “Then Tina Brown says, ‘Well, actually, they’ve pulled out of whatever deal potentially that would have been because of the public backlash’. This is a story that made news alerts across the world: Meghan was going to star in a Netflix show. That would be incredible publicity for Netflix and The Gentlemen production company.
“I think when it comes to Meghan Markle, she’s a bit like Marmite, you either love her or you hate her, but even those who do hate her love watching her and then complaining about her on the internet.” Ms Tominey couldn’t help but poke fun at the royal, chuckling: “I can’t wait to see her in EastEnders, I’m all for it.”

The royal expert went on to address speculation reported in The Sunday Times that the couple may live in the UK for only a year before relocating to Canada again in 2028. Mr Walker admitted: “They do like keeping us on our toes, don’t they? I think what they seem to be doing here is not claiming anything will be permanent, since they don’t know whether this UK move will work.
“So they’re keeping their options open, but they’re giving it a go. They’ve enrolled their children in a private day school, according to The Sunday Times this morning, but we don’t know which one, which means there’s no boarding.” It didn’t take long for viewers to flock to social media to share their thoughts on the latest royal development online.
One user penned: “So the plan is to come for a year, secure security, royal proximity and new book content. Then, after Invictus is over, swan off again? And the kids’ education and ongoing Grandad relationship? Collateral damage.” Another agreed: “It’s clearly all about the security… they’ll move here to get security, then leave & demand they should have taxpayers’ security in every realm they live in. It’s a backhanded way of getting what Harry wants. That royal status.”
A third echoed: “They said they would stay ‘for a period of time’. Saying they will only stay a year is not making a U-turn. It’s obvious Harry wants to live in the UK in the run-up to Invictus. I doubt they’ll stay much longer than that.”
