SHOCK: This Morning’s Cat Deeley cries on air as Ben Shephard forced to intervene

This Morning presenter Cat Deeley was overcome with emotion live on air leaving co-host Ben Shephard to step in and take over while she composed herself. The 49-year-old mum of two became tearful following an interview with two parents who had lost their children to suicide as a result of bullying. As the segment drew to a close the usually bubbly presenter seemed to crumble as she fought tears while reading out helpline information.
Her voice cracked as she said: “A reminder that you can find more information on our know the signs campaign by scanning the QR code…” As the screen cut to a graphic displaying the campain details she continued: “It is on your screen now…” She then had to take a moment as Ben stepped in to cover. As he took over hosting duties she could be seen turning to whisper “well done” to the two women who had told their stories on the programme.
The two mothers had shared memories of their children, as well as opening up about how they discovered they were the victims of bullying at school.
At one point Cat had offered a tissue to one of them as she teared up during the chat.
They spoke passionately about the anti-bullying campaign they established in order to try their best to prevent the same tragedy happening elsewhere. In a touching moment one of the women revealed the charity is called Bee Kind for Honey, which is named after her child who lost her life.

Following the segment the show cut to a break without playing the usual jaunty This Morning theme tune.

This isn’t the first time Cat has appeared tearful while hosting the show. On June 17, 2025 she and Ben Shephard fought tears on air as they interrupted the show to address a tragic death.
The pair were paying tribute to Jamie and Fiongal Greenlaw-Meek,who were killed in the tragic Air India crash on June 12 that year, which took the lives of all 242 passengers bar one survivor. The pair had made several appearances on This Morning.
Meanwhile on October 24, 2024 she shed happy tears on air when Ben surprised her with a birthday tribute from Pam Ayres, who had written a special poem just for Cat.
Overwhelmed by the surprise, Cat confessed that the gesture meant a lot to her as Pam was a significant part of her childhood. As she wiped away her tears, Ben comforted her with a supportive hand squeeze before they continued with the show.
