Sky News halts for bombshell announcement β and it’s more bad news for π΄πππ¦ π΅π’ππβππ
Sky News was interrupted for the bombshell announcement that more than 1,500 are set to go on strike over concerns about the hot weather. It is believed 1,900 drivers are expected to be involved, with complainants claiming that the bus firm Arriva North London failed to act after drivers demanded aircon was fitted to help them cope with the heatwaves. Gareth Barlow said: “A report from the Unite union saying more than 1,500 Arriva North London bus drivers were taking industrial action on Friday and multiple other days, concerned about the hot weather.
“It’s because buses operated by Arriva North London have air cooling systems rather than air conditioning. It means that the temperatures on those buses are only reduced a degree or two below the external air temperatures rather than the more effective air conditioning units.”

The Sky News presenter added: “They say that it’s leading to health problems in sweltering conditions. The Unite general secretary saying ‘no worker should be made ill by the job and the problem is raised year after year and it can no longer be swept under the carpet’.”
A Unite spokesperson warned people to expect “a lot of severe disruption, cancellations and delays”, which is unlikely to be welcome news for Prime Minister Andy Burnham.
The bus drivers are set to walk out on 26 dates between August to October, with services across north London and Essex affected.
Unite regional officer Steven Stockwell added: “Arriva has failed to provide our members with a safe and comfortable working environment during the hot weather. This is putting bus drivers and passengers at risk and our members believe they have no choice but to ballot for industrial action.
“We recognise that those who use these bus services may be frustrated to hear this news, but this is a serious safety issue. It is on Arriva to create a safer environment, not just for our members but the general public and it must do this immediately or face disruption.”
