BREAKING NEWS: Prince Harry makes urgent security appeal to Home Secretary before family’s UK return
Prince Harry has privately sought answers from Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood over his security arrangements as he prepares for a shock return to Britain with Meghan Markle and their two children.
The Duke of Sussex, who is expected to return to the UK with his family within weeks, has reportedly “privately pleaded” with Shabana Mahmood for clarity over his security arrangements.
Harry’s security arrangements were reportedly reassessed in late July by Ravec’s risk management board, amid his push for publicly funded protection.
The board reportedly did not know Harry was planning a permanent UK return when it made its decision.
Security costs, previously estimated at £5 million-plus, could rise significantly if the Home Office funds his protection.
Harry’s security review came after a prolonged battle over whether he should receive taxpayer-funded protection despite no longer being a working royal.
Judges at the Court of Appeal determined that a grievance alone did not constitute a sound legal argument.
Following his legal defeat, Harry accused the establishment of a “stitch-up” while continuing to seek a new RMB and contacting the Home Secretary.
The Duke is said to feel “numbed” by the struggle over security for his family and has yet to receive the result of the completed review, The Telegraph reports.
