Prince Harry’s reunion with William blocked by one major problem as Prince William ‘refuses to forgive’ comments about Kate
Prince Harry’s hopes of rebuilding his relationship with Prince William may still face one enormous obstacle — and it reportedly has little to do with what the Duke of Sussex has said about his older brother.
As attention continues to focus on the possibility of a long-awaited reunion between the two brothers, royal watchers are wondering whether William and Kate will eventually open the door to reconciliation.
But according to royal biographer Robert Jobson, there is one deeply personal issue that could make that reunion extremely difficult.
The problem, he suggested, is Harry’s comments about Catherine, Princess of Wales.
The brothers’ relationship has deteriorated dramatically in recent years, with Harry and Meghan Markle’s departure from royal life, their television interviews and the publication of Harry’s memoir Spare all adding further strain.
The Sussexes were also forced to leave Frogmore Cottage after the publication of Harry’s memoir, a move that was widely seen as another sign of the growing distance between the couple and the Royal Family.
Harry’s comments about Queen Camilla, the monarchy and the so-called establishment have also kept tensions alive.
Yet despite the bitter history, there have been signs that the relationship between Harry and his father, King Charles, could be moving in a different direction.
Harry and his family have reportedly had an opportunity to meet the King, offering a glimmer of hope that relations within the Royal Family might eventually improve.
That has inevitably led to renewed speculation about William.
Could the future King finally sit down with his younger brother and put years of conflict behind them?
Jobson believes the answer may depend on whether William can move past what Harry has said about his wife.
The royal biographer suggested that William might be able to tolerate attacks directed at himself — but drew the line when it came to Catherine.
“I think he could take a lot of things being said about him, but he wasn’t prepared to have things said about her when she’s not in a position to answer back,” Jobson said.
That distinction could prove crucial.
Harry has previously described Kate in deeply personal terms, at one point referring to her as a “sister he never had”.
But the relationship between the Sussexes and the Waleses has remained strained, and any future meeting could carry enormous emotional weight.
For William and Kate, the priority appears to be avoiding another public confrontation.
Rather than responding to every accusation or becoming drawn into another round of royal drama, the Waleses are expected to maintain their distance.
“I think that they’ll probably think, well, we’ve been down this road before; It creates a circus, and we’re not going to get involved,” Jobson explained.
That approach could make a private reconciliation even harder to achieve.
William may not want another public battle with his brother, but neither does he appear willing to ignore comments he believes crossed a personal boundary involving his wife.
For Harry, that leaves a painful dilemma.
If he genuinely wants to repair his relationship with William, he may eventually have to confront the very words and accusations that helped deepen the divide between them.
The possibility of a brothers’ reunion therefore remains tantalisingly close — yet painfully complicated.
After years of public revelations, family tensions and bitter exchanges, the biggest barrier may no longer be whether William and Harry can meet.
It may be whether they can finally move beyond the wounds that made their reunion so difficult in the first place.
