Prince Louis may now be the most mischievous royal, but before him, his uncle Prince Harry happily filled the role. Whether he was sticking his tongue out at journalists or playfully dancing on the balcony of Buckingham Palace with Princess Beatrice, there are several examples to choose from.
One particularly memorable incident involved a very young Harry breaking out of Kensington Palace and making it all the way to Kensington High Street before being found by his security team. recounted by Ken Wharfe, the family’s ex-protection officer.

Mr Wharfe, a former SO14 officer with the royalty protection branch, revealed how Harry would often come to him dressed in army fatigues and ask for assignments. He recalled a time when he handed Harry a walkie-talkie and assigned him a task that the prince took very seriously.
Harry, without alerting anyone, decided to leave Kensington Palace for Kensington High Street. After completing his self-assigned mission, he radioed Wharfe to say, “Mission accomplished.”
Wharfe then joked about the panic that set in as he dashed to retrieve the young prince, admitting his feet “didn’t touch the ground” upon realising what had happened.
It wasn’t just Prince Harry who had his funny moments at Kensington Palace. Prince William also once shared an amusing memory of what his mother, Diana, Princess of Wales did to prank him.

In an interview commemorating the 20th anniversary of Diana’s death, William revealed: “Just outside this room where we are now, she organised, when I came home from school, to have Cindy Crawford, Christy Turlington and Naomi Campbell waiting at the top of the stairs.”
He recalled his embarrassment, admitting: “I was probably a 12 or 13-year-old boy who had posters of them on his wall.
“I went bright red and didn’t know quite what to say and sort of fumbled, and I think I pretty much fell down the stairs on the way up. I was completely and utterly sort of awestruck.”
