Prince William was left ‘fuming’ after King Charles and Queen Camilla made a name change request to Kate Middleton, according to a royal expert.

Prince William was left incensed after King Charles and Queen Camilla requested that Kate Middleton make a substantial change to her name, according to a royal expert.
Christopher Andersen, in his new biography, Kate! The Courage, Grace, and Power of the Woman Who Will Be Queen, claimed Charles and Camilla suggested Kate modify the spelling of her first name from Catherine to Katherine.
“Charles and Camilla each had a royal monogram that consisted of interlocking C’s beneath a crown, and they expressed concern that a third royal cypher with a C was overkill,” the author wrote. It comes as the one thing that Prince William ‘will never forgive’ Prince Harry for was exposed.
The bold request reportedly did not sit well with William, who intervened to address the situation himself.

Andersen added, “Offended by yet another command from on high essentially aimed at placating Camilla, a fuming William replied on his wife’s behalf. The request was nothing less than ‘insulting,’ he told his father, not only to Kate but to her entire family.”
Andersen told Fox News Digital that from the earliest days of William and Kate’s relationship, the future prince had “gone to war for Kate,” consistently championing her cause and even ensuring her royal obligations never came at the expense of quality time with their children. The couple is parents to three children — Prince Louis, Princess Charlotte and Prince George.
Andersen claimed Charles and Camilla anticipated Kate would fall in line with their proposal, given her reputation as an accommodating and cooperative team player. However, they failed to account for her strong personal preference to be addressed as Catherine — the name her parents gave her and one she holds dear.

“Kate is very secure about who she is and how she wants to be perceived by the outside world,” Andersen said. “Changing her formal given name for such a bizarre, almost comical reason was a bridge too far.”
Fortunately, the Princess of Wales is “genuinely fond” of her father-in-law and reportedly assumed he had been influenced by someone else in pursuing the “absurd” idea. She harbored no resentment or ill-feeling toward him, Andersen explained.
According to reports, Kate is set to join William on a significant international trip, with the venture being described as a pivotal moment for the royals. The Princess of Wales is expected to accompany her husband to India later this year for the Earthshot Prize Awards.
Royal expert Russell Myers told OK! Magazine, “Following her successful return to international duties this year, which included her visit to Reggio Emilia in Italy for her early years research, Catherine is very much looking forward to attending the Earthshot Awards in India alongside her husband.”
He noted that Kate’s choice to accompany William represents a major milestone in her return to royal life following her cancer battle. Myers added, “The fact that she’s planning to go to India is such a huge milestone, not only for her, but for the couple together.”
