BREAKING NEWS: Sky News halts for Harry and Meghan breaking announcement as King Charles issues statement
King Charles has issued a statement following the return of the Sussexes.
Sky News was interrupted for a breaking update on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Jayne Secker announced that King Charles has issued a statement to “clarify” the status of the Sussexes following their return to the UK last month. The presenter said: “Breaking news from Clarence House. It’s a clarification from the King and Queen about the status Duke and Duchess of Sussex. It’s just to clarify the position that they do have.
“It says, ‘Following that decision to relocate to the UK, the King has directed that the following information be shared. It is well known that the Duke and Duchess stepped down from undertaking representative duties on behalf of The Sovereign, and are no longer working members of the Royal Family.’

“‘This position, distinct from the state and royal duties undertaken by the working Royal Family.'”
The Sky News host continued: “It says ‘with the personal latitude it brings the couple in respect of financial independence and protection of their privacy as they would wish to continue to be fully respected.’
“‘It follows that there is no change to the current status of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Their styles as His and Her Royal Highness remain in abeyance and are not used.’
“‘The charitable work of the Duke and Duchess is a personal matter for them both and undertaken in their private capacity. In short, their position is akin to private citizens with commercial and charitable interests.'”
The presenter added: “It’s just restating the position of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to make it clear from the Royal Family today.”

The Sussexes’ return to the UK has been a topic of conversation since they arrived in Birmingham via private jet at the end of August, with many still furious over Harry’s demand for his taxpayer-funded security to be reinstated.
Speaking on GB News, Lizzie Cundy declared: “The American dream is officially over. Meghan and Harry are back in Blighty. Yes, they flew on a private jet. Those eco warriors that we’ve known and loved – they’re back. And guess what? They want us to pay for it.
“They want us to stump up £5million for their security. Is this the same couple that couldn’t bear this nation? Did every interview slating us, slating the Royal Family? But now they want to come back, and they want us to pay for it.
“And don’t you forget, remember his book Spare, or should I say Spare US, who wrote about killing 25 Taliban. Now, that puts Harry in huge danger, puts the Royal Family in danger, and us as a nation in danger. Yet they expect us to pay for it.”
