Meghan Markle faces an ultimatum as she is about to decide whether to return to the UK, according to an expert. The Duchess of Sussex opted not to join her husband in London this week as he began his five-day trip to the UK. It is understood that the Sussexes’ decision came amid mounting security concerns about their safety while they’re in the country.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle lost their armed police protection when they stepped down as senior working royals in 2020. The Duke of Sussex had been waiting for a decision on a security reassessment by the Risk Management Board (RMB), part of the process through which the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec) rules on his security requirements.

Just days before the trip began, the Sussexes were informed that no decision had been made, while reports suggested that a request for police protection for the upcoming trip had been denied.
It is still unclear whether the Duchess will travel to the UK at all, while there is hope that she could still join him in Birmingham.
Now, with her arrival still up in the air, a PR expert has warned her to tread carefully if she does come to the UK, as any misstep could affect her global brand.
Meghan has been promoting herself as an entrepreneur in the last two years, launching her lifestyle brand, As Ever, last year.
Nick Ede, a Brand and Culture expert, noted how she needs to focus on her brand and leave her royal links behind if she truly wants to succeed.
Mr Ede told the Daily Express: “Meghan has worked hard to establish herself outside the institution, yet she continues to use the Duchess of Sussex title, which remains one of the most valuable assets in her personal brand.
“It’s a balancing act because the title undoubtedly opens doors globally, but it also keeps her intrinsically linked to the Royal Family she has distanced herself from.”
He added: “My advice would be to decide on one clear long-term strategy. If Meghan wants to build a lasting global lifestyle empire entirely on her own terms, then gradually placing less emphasis on the royal title would demonstrate confidence in the strength of her own name.”
