Laura Hamilton hit back at harsh criticism after she received backlash for sharing an Instagram post in a two-piece swimsuit. The Channel 4 star, who has fronted A Place in The Sun for the past 14 years, gave fans a glimpse into her light-hearted personality, away from her usually professional on-screen display. On Sunday (August 8), the presenter shared a hilarious video of herself doing gardening jobs while wearing only a leopard-print bikini and wellies. The 44-year-old could be seen pruning hedges, clearing leaves, driving a lawn tractor and tackling other chores while dancing along to music.

Taking to the caption, the presenter joked: “Trimming my bush … the glamorous side of gardening. Bikini, tractor, sunshine and a bit of hard work — what more could you ask for? What’s your favourite garden job… or the one you’d happily leave to someone else?” Before asking her 234,000 followers: “What’s your favourite garden job… or the one you’d happily leave to someone else?”

While some fans found the funny side of the clip, many, including ITV’s Laura Tobin, were impressed with the star’s toned figure, as the meteorologist commented: “Putting us all to shame.”

Despite the praise, Laura learned from a colleague that she had received hate mail from someone who had unfollowed her because of the upload.

The email read: “We’re not following Laura anymore because we were interested in her property renovation in Mallorca, but she just looks like she’s messing around and being silly, and we’d rather follow somebody that’s more serious.”

Addressing the backlash, the TV host slammed: “Somebody actually took the time to send that email. And I was like, ‘You know what, don’t even bother responding. Don’t even give them the time of day’.

“The majority of people are very positive, but then you always get the negative Nancys that are like, ‘Oh, your kids must be so proud of you,’ and you’re like, ‘Don’t follow me then.'”

This comes just days after Laura opened up about the death of house hunter Annette Kilgore, 69, who appeared on A Place in The Sun alongside her husband Malcolm Timbrell, who purchased a home in Spain to live out their retirement.

Last month, Malcolm revealed he had become separated from his wife and their friends as wildfires tore through Spain, France, and Portugal, with flames engulfing their home. Spanish reports have since confirmed that 13 people had lost their lives in the blaze, including Annette.

In a recent interview, Laura told The Daily Express: “That was devastating … it was Leah’s house hunters, and she had been filming with those people, and you know, I get it.

“It must just be awful for her because she helped them. All I can say is I feel so awful for the poor couple and their families, and everyone, actually, who has been affected by the fires; it’s very sad.”
