Harry And Meghan Hit With Blunt Warning As King Charles’ True Feelings Emerge
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been advised against making a public apology to King Charles as speculation continues over whether the Sussexes could take further steps towards repairing their relationship with the Royal Family.
According to the report, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex moved back to the UK from Montecito, California, last month with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, with their children’s education said to have been a factor in the decision.
Despite now living in the same country as the King, Harry and Meghan have not publicly reunited with Charles since their return.
Sources have claimed the couple have been discussing whether a written public apology could help rebuild trust, but former royal butler Grant Harrold believes such a move would be the wrong approach.
Former Butler Says King Would Not Want Public Apology
Speaking to The Express US, Grant said he did not expect Harry and Meghan to make any apology publicly — and suggested Charles would not want them to do so either.
“I don’t think they would make a public apology. I don’t think the King would want a public apology,” he said.
Grant suggested a public statement could simply create further attention around the family dispute.
“I think he feels that would just add fuel to the fire,” he continued.
“He believes in the old-fashioned idea that actions speak louder than words — and that’s what he will be looking for from his son and daughter-in-law.”
Instead, Grant believes any attempt at reconciliation would be better demonstrated through what Harry and Meghan do next.
‘Actions Speak Louder Than Words’
The former royal butler encouraged observers to focus on the Sussexes’ future behaviour rather than expect a dramatic public statement.
“I think we’re going to have to look at their actions and what they do going forward, as that would be the closest we get to, if you like, an apology,” he explained.
Grant added that he did not expect the couple to appear publicly and address their differences with the Royal Family.
“I don’t see them walking out onto a platform or podium and addressing it publicly. I don’t think so.”
He suggested private family meetings could instead become a clearer indication that relations were improving.
“The apology would come through their actions, what they do and say going forward,” he said.
“Maybe they’ll have meetings with the family, that kind of thing. I think that would be the clearest indication that they’re trying to move things forward.”
Sources Claim Possible Statement Has Been Discussed
Grant’s comments follow separate claims that Harry and Meghan have been discussing whether some form of public apology could form part of their efforts to rebuild trust with Charles.
Sources speaking to Rob Shuter claimed the potential statement would not necessarily involve Harry and Meghan withdrawing everything they have previously said about the Royal Family.
“This isn’t about Harry and Meghan admitting they were wrong about everything,” one unnamed insider was quoted as saying.
“It’s about acknowledging that the past five years have caused enormous pain.”
According to the source, the discussion has centred on exactly what any apology could say — and what should be left out.
The report claims several possible drafts have already been discussed, although no public statement has been announced.
Private Meeting Seen as Possible Opening
Harry and Meghan are said to have met Charles and Queen Camilla privately shortly before returning to live in Britain.
According to unnamed advisers cited in the report, that meeting may have created an opportunity to improve relations after years of public tension.
However, those same claims suggest that rebuilding trust would require more than a single private meeting.
“Everyone agrees trust has to be rebuilt,” another source said.
“The challenge is finding language that gives the King the respect he wants without forcing Harry and Meghan to walk back every interview, documentary, or page of Spare.”
That underlines the difficulty facing both sides.
Harry and Meghan have spoken publicly about their experiences within the Royal Family on several occasions since stepping back from senior royal duties, including through interviews, documentaries and Harry’s memoir.
Any reconciliation effort would therefore have to navigate years of highly public disagreements.

For the moment, there has been no confirmed public apology and no public reunion between the Sussexes and King Charles following their reported return to Britain.
Grant’s view is that a major statement may not be necessary at all.
Instead, he believes quieter actions — including private meetings and the way Harry and Meghan speak about the family going forward — could provide the strongest indication that relations are improving.
With reports claiming discussions about a possible statement have already taken place, attention will now turn to whether the Sussexes choose words or actions as their next step towards the King.
