The Dog House Australia star Tayla Meath has died aged 30 after a long battle with a rare form of cancer, with family, colleagues and viewers paying tribute to her kindness and lifelong love of animals.
The Australian television personality was diagnosed with adenoid cystic carcinoma in 2024, a rare cancer that develops in glandular tissue.
Tayla was best known to audiences for her appearances on The Dog House Australia, which follows abandoned dogs as they are matched with prospective owners and given the chance to find permanent homes.
Following news of her death, the programme said it was “deeply saddened” and remembered Tayla for the extraordinary care and compassion she showed towards the animals she worked with.
For Tayla, helping dogs was never simply part of a television role.
“Working with animals wasn’t just a job for Tayla,” the programme said. “It was her passion and a huge part of who she was.”
She particularly loved helping dogs get a second chance and playing a role in finding them the families they deserved.

Fundraiser organiser April Faulkner said Tayla’s loved ones were now trying to come to terms with the loss.
“Tayla’s journey was long and painful, but she never gave up,” she said.
“She fought every single day.”
April described Tayla as someone who continued to live, laugh and love even when circumstances became extraordinarily difficult.
Her family said the illness could never erase the impact she had made on the people around her.
They believe she will continue to be remembered through the friendships she built, the laughter she shared and the lives she made brighter.
Plans are now being made for a celebration of Tayla’s life.
According to the fundraiser, her family wants the service to reflect who she was and to honour her in the way she had wanted.
