HEARTBREAKING: The Voice star receives heartbreaking news after revealing a brain tumour diagnosis, leaving viewers deeply saddened.
The Voice winner Ava Mannings has revealed the devastating reason she disappeared from social media shortly after winning the ITV talent show.
The singer, who performs professionally as AVA, won The Voice UK in 2024 at the age of 21 under the guidance of McFly stars Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones.
But just one week after viewers saw her crowned winner, Ava received a life-changing diagnosis.
Now 23, she has returned to social media after two years of silence and explained that she had been diagnosed with a brain tumour in October 2024.
In an emotional Instagram video, Ava admitted that speaking publicly about what happened was difficult.
“I’m not sure how to put it into words,” she said.
“So unfortunately, Miss Ava here was diagnosed with a brain tumour back in October 2024, about a week after everyone found out that I had won The Voice.”
She added: “So that’s why I disappeared so quickly.”
Ava Says Diagnosis Was ‘Life-Changing’
Ava explained that she was not ready to go into full detail about everything she had experienced over the past two years.
“Yeah, I’m not going to get into that whole experience because it’s still something that, you know, it’s quite life-changing,” she said.
The singer revealed that she underwent “major surgery” following the diagnosis and said the outcome had been positive.
She also thanked those who had continued supporting her during her absence.
Despite what she described as a “tough ride”, Ava made clear that she had never planned to walk away from music.
She said she had worked hard to reach the point where she could finally return and teased that new music is now on the way.
‘I’m Back, So Watch Out’
Ava told followers that her journey had taken her somewhere she could never have expected.
“So catch me on a journey that I had no idea how to experience,” she said.
“One thing to know about me is that I still go with the flow.”
She then thanked everyone who had supported her while acknowledging how difficult the video had been to make.
“The main thing is, thank you so much, everyone,” Ava said.
“I don’t really know what to say because obviously this is quite a hard video for me to make, but I’m back, so watch out, everyone.”
