The confession comes after the family’s sad loss a few months ago

Meghan Markle has revealed her children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet really fancy having a pet cat.

As the grandchildren of King Charles, it seems unthinkable that Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet would want for anything.

But after the Sussexes sadly lost a furry friend some months ago, it seems a new member of family could be added to their home.

Meghan Markle gushes over Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet on her Netflix show

In episode two of With Love, Meghan, the duchess is joined in her kitchen by celebrity pal Chrissy Teigen.

Among the topics they chat about in the episode, as they’re making jewellery for their children out of dehydrated petals and flower heads, is their long friendship going back to their earliest days in entertainment.

Additionally, Chrissy jokes about thinking Meghan had a ‘secret’ third baby, which Meghan admits would be an “impressive” matter to keep under wraps.

However, as it turns out, the Sussexes may be in the market to grow their domestic unit – even if a new arrival would be more likely to purr than need a nappy.

What pets do the Sussexes have?

Meghan, whose children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet are shielded from public and social media attention, gave rare insight into her kids’ lives as she addressed their desperation for a new companion.

The Sussexes already have several pets, it is believed. Those pets are said to include dogs Pula, a black Labrador, and Mia, a rescue Beagle. Chickens, who live in a coop named ‘Archie’s Chick Inn’, also make their home at the Sussexes’ Montecito residence.

Sadly, since the filming of With Love, Meghan, the family lost another rescue Beagle called Guy who passed away at the end of 2024.

Nonetheless, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet are said to be hopeful of adding a moggy to the Sussex household.

Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet ‘really want a cat’

Guy does appear in season two of With Love, Meghan. And at one point mum-of-four Chrissy shares how she has also adopted dogs, like the Sussexes. Chrissy, however, has four rescues.

“You have four dogs and four kids? How are you doing that?” Meghan asks. “And we have two hairless cats,” Chrissy adds.

Meghan responds by opening up about Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet’s wish for a cat to supplement their animals ranks.

My kids really want a cat.

“My kids really want a cat. Really want a cat,” Meghan says, before turning her attention to sourdough bread that took her six days to make.

Previously, when she appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2021, Meghan pranked people by wearing cat ears and meowing like a puss.

“This is what I do for my kids to cheer them up,” she claimed at the time.
