SAD NEWS: TV star d!es aged 39 from a brain tumour, leaving his wife, who also appeared on the show, devastated.
Married at First Sight star Adrian Szymaniak has passed away at the age of 39 after living with an aggressive brain tumour, with his wife Anita asking for privacy as the family says goodbye.
Adrian, who met Anita while appearing on the Polish version of the reality dating show, was diagnosed with grade four glioblastoma in July 2025. He underwent surgery and several forms of treatment in the months that followed, while supporters raised more than £500,000 to help fund his care.
The couple first met during the third series of Married at First Sight Poland in 2018. Their relationship continued after the cameras stopped rolling, and they later welcomed two children together.
In December 2025, Adrian and Anita renewed their wedding vows as they continued facing his illness together.
Confirming the sad news, Anita said the family was going through an incredibly difficult period and wanted the opportunity to say goodbye privately with those closest to Adrian.
“With great pain we inform that Adrian has passed away,” she wrote, adding that what mattered most to the family now was “silence, closeness and the chance to say goodbye to him among those nearest to him.”
Family Asks for Privacy
Anita explained that Adrian’s funeral would be limited to family and friends and requested that no photographs or recordings be taken.
She also urged people not to turn the family’s grief into content or publicity, saying they needed space to deal with their loss away from public attention.
“We need now, above all, the peace and space, to say goodbye to Adrian with love, dignity and silence,” she said.
Anita also asked people to avoid sending personal messages or making phone calls for the time being, saying the family needed quiet and time together.
Adrian spent his final weeks surrounded by loved ones while receiving round-the-clock nursing care.
Following his diagnosis, he underwent surgery as well as radiotherapy and chemotherapy. The substantial fundraising effort surrounding his treatment also allowed him to access a privately funded therapy known as TTFields.
Throughout his illness, Adrian spoke publicly about what he was going through and used his social media presence to explain why he had chosen to share such a personal experience.
Rather than focusing entirely on the uncertainty surrounding his condition, he said he wanted to remain grateful for the time he had.
“I share my story because I have no other options, but also because I believe it can give someone hope,” Adrian wrote on Instagram.
He added: “Instead of the daily sadness and regret, I choose to be grateful for every day.”
His approach was also focused on continuing to look ahead.
“Instead of being helpless, I choose to fight and plan for the future,” he said.
Friend Pays Tribute to Adrian
Following the announcement, Adrian’s close friend Piotr Kęsik shared an emotional tribute, remembering him for the qualities that defined their friendship.
“Today we say goodbye to a good man,” he said, describing Adrian as “joyful, honest, cheerful, loyal.”
Piotr added that while he wanted to cry, he believed Adrian probably would not have wanted him to.
Adrian became known to viewers through Married at First Sight, but the programme ultimately became much more than a television appearance for him. It was where he met Anita, beginning a relationship that led to marriage and two children.
For Adrian’s family, however, the focus now is firmly away from television and public attention. Anita has made clear that those closest to him simply want the privacy and space to remember him together.
