Al Roker is spending Easter Sunday also celebrating the life of his late mother, Isabel “Izzy” Bernadette Roker, who died in 2007.
On April 20, Al uploaded multiple posts to Instagram in which he recognized the religious holiday and reflected on how the day also marks his mother’s birthday.
He began his Sunday by sharing a carousel of family photos on Instagram. The first picture showed Al as a child standing beside his mom and his late dad, Albert Roker Sr. He then included more pictures of his parents, as well as snaps with wife Deborah Roberts.
“For the first time I can remember, Easter coincides with Isabel Roker’s birthday,” Al wrote in the caption. “I always think about her raising her arms up during the Easter hymn, ‘I Am The Bread Of Life.’”

He continued, “Deborah and the kids always watch me during the song in case I lose it and they console me.” TODAY’s weatherman ended the post by wishing his mom a happy birthday.
Deborah sweetly commented on the post, “We miss you Isabel!” and added a red heart.
Al also uploaded a video of his family attending an Easter Sunday church service. The congregation sang along to “I Am The Bread Of Life” in the clip.
“Well, made it through ‘I Am The Bread Of Life,’ my mom, Isabel Roker’s favorite Easter hymn,” he said in the caption. “This being her birthday, it was especially bittersweet. She would have been 88.”
Deborah left a raising hands emoji in the comments while multiple fans wrote supportive messages.
“Thank you so much for posting this! Makes me weep. Your mom is among the great cloud of witnesses praising with you today,” one said.
Another wrote, “I love that song, too. Your mom was right over your shoulder, I am sure.”
In another Instagram post, Al uploaded pictures of himself, Deborah and their son, Nick, dressed in their Sunday best for the special day. The three of them posed together in front of St. James’ Church in Manhattan, New York.

Al also shared a snap with a few close friends.
“Another Easter with family and friends,” he said in the caption.
Deborah shared similar photos with her family and friends on her page, too.
“Sending greetings of renewal and rebirth to everyone. Happy Easter Day,” she wrote.
