Fox News host Cheryl Casone’s 2 A.M. routine sh0cks and moves viewers – the story of silent sacrifice behind the on-screen glory.
2 A.M.: Everybody always asks about what time I wake up. I wake up at 2 a.m., Monday through Friday. I have three alarm clocks; two on my phones—one is my regular phone and one is my work phone—and then I have an actual, physical alarm clock. There’s no oversleeping on my schedule. That’s not an option.
2:05 A.M.: I pick up my work phone and I start to look at the news instantly. My show producer puts together an overnight news roundup and it tells me all the stories that they’re watching and things we’re going to cover on the show. Things have been so crazy in the news lately and so much is happening overnight. After that, I start to get ready. I shower and lay my clothes out the night before so I’m ready to go.
2:40 A.M.: I have a car service that picks me up at my apartment in Manhattan on the Upper West Side. And there are lots of interesting things to see in Manhattan at 2:40 in the morning.
2:55 A.M.: The car drops me off at my office.

3 A.M.: I’m in my office on the 18th floor at FOX on a conference call with the producer, where we talk through the show—here’s who we’re meeting with, here’s the big news, here’s what you need to know, here’s the angle of the story we want to cover—and that takes about 10 minutes.
3:10 A.M.: I come into work in jeans and I change in my office, where I keep my work clothes.
3:40 A.M.: I go down to hair and makeup and I’m usually done by 4:30 a.m.
4:45 A.M.: I walk onto set and spend that last 15 minutes prepping for the show, reading through the script, printing anything I may need and doing any last-minute research.
5 A.M.: We go live and the show goes until 6 a.m. It’s the first show on FOX Business. I love being on the first show of the day and having the first broadcast. It’s really fun. Everything is fresh and new and I’m kicking off the network. It’s something I really appreciate.
6 A.M.: I go to a different studio and I’m with Maria Bartiromo, who is one of our big names on the Business Network, and I do her show. I do a little mini newscast and read the headlines on her show and that ends at 9 a.m.
[When do you eat breakfast?]
I try to bring things into work that are healthy on Monday morning, like fruit, hardboiled eggs, maybe some turkey. I try to eat when I can.
9 A.M.: I head back to my office and answer emails.

10 A.M.: I eat lunch at about 10 a.m. It’s usually something I bring from home, since there’s nothing open for lunch at 10 a.m.
11 A.M.: I’ll usually go to the gym or to Central Park, where I’ll either ride my bike or go for a run, depending on the weather. FOX Business is sponsoring the triathlon this year, which is a really great event. A big part of my days now is training for that.
12 P.M.: I’ll run some errands and go to some appointments, if I have them.
1 P.M.: I turn the TV on back at home and watch the news to set me up for the next morning. Lately I’ve been trying to turn off the news around my dinnertime and turn on something less intense. Right now I’m watching Westworld and on Netflix I just finished watching The Crown.
3 P.M.: I eat dinner at about 3 p.m., because I try to go to bed at 6 p.m. and I don’t want to eat just before I go to sleep. It’s not healthy.
5 P.M.: I’ll start to chill out, wind down and maybe drink some tea to get ready for bed. Since it’s still light out at that time, I also use my blackout curtains to create the right atmosphere.
6 P.M.: 6 p.m. is lights out. But on Sundays I don’t fall asleep until about 8 or 8:30. I try to have a normal weekend if I can. Normal for me on a Friday night is staying up past 9 p.m. It doesn’t happen very often but I do make an effort. I crank the air conditioning and close my blackout curtains to make it as cold and dark as possible to sleep.
