Insiders have revealed how Prince William allegedly feels about Earl Charles Spencer hitting back at King Charles. Earl Spencer has made a number of damning claims about King Charles in his new memoir, Swan Song: Diana, My Sister, including that he said “we’ll forget her soon enough” after his sister, Princess Diana, was killed in a car accident in 1997. Buckingham Palace issued a statement shortly after, saying “fraternal grief can cloud reason, affect judgment and colour memory in ways others do not recognise”.

Despite this, Earl Spencer has stood by his comments and has now even accused King Charles of “gaslighting” him. “It is not every day you wake up to find you’ve been gaslit by the King,” he told the Mail on Sunday. “It was astonishingly provocative and below the belt because it was essentially trying to say I’d lied without the King being able to deny what I’d said.

‘Really powerful stuff!’

Prince William Broke Tradition and Rejected This Royal Privilege

Editor at Large for Mail on Sunday, Charlotte Griffiths shares reports that Prince William is feeling both furious and weary about having to inherit multi-generational family drama.

He added: “I also thought it was a rather poor imitation of the ‘recollections may vary’ quote, which was a much more elegant way of putting things, but in these circumstances entirely out of place.”

GB News presenter Ben Leo has now reacted to reports that Prince William, 44, is feeling “multigenerational fury” following Earl Spencer’s latest remarks.

Charlotte Griffiths, the editor at large for Mail on Sunday, explained: “It’s really powerful stuff saying he feels this fury and I think that’s true.

“From what I’m hearing, this is the latest in a string of disasters that has beset the Royal Family that William feels not only furious, but actually quite weary that he has to inherit all this.

“That use of multigenerational was such an interesting word to use because I think he feels this stuff is from a different generation.”

Charlotte suggested that William is keen to be a “modern King”, pointing to his use of an e-bike to travel around Windsor and arguing that he has “got on with the job” in a similar way to Queen Camilla.

She added that the Prince of Wales has prioritised creating a “sane and normal family” life with Princess Catherine, noting that the couple do the school run without any fuss and join other parents playing sports at their children’s schools.

“They have a relatively lowkey lifestyle and so he’s so frustrated that this drama follows him wherever he goes. There’s nothing he can do except endure it and knowing it’s a job that he has to have,” Charlotte went on.

“He can’t change it in any way, he just has to put up and shut up.”
