Good Morning Britain stars announced “sad news” after the d3ath of a soap icon on Monday (October 27).
During today’s episode of the popular ITV show, presenters Charlotte Hawkins and Ed Balls kept viewers up to speed with the latest happenings in the UK and globally.
Sean Fletcher took care of the remaining news of the day, while Laura Tobin provided regular weather updates live from a pumpkin farm.
Later in the programme, Charlotte and Ed were joined by entertainment correspondent Richard Arnold, who had some “sad news” to announce.
“We have sadly lost a star,” Ed started, with Richard responding: “We have indeed,” reports Wales Online.

“Some rather sad news to wake up to this morning. Actor Tony Adams has passed away. Best known, of course, for his role, Adam Chance, in the soap opera Crossroads,” he disclosed.
“He starred in an extraordinary 4,500 episodes from 1978 to 1988. Now, Tony returned to the role in 2001, you may remember, when the show was brought back and he had a cameo in 2023’s ITV series Nolly – the three-part drama based on fellow Crossroads actress Noele Gordon, played by Helen Bonham Carter.”
Richard continued: “Tony died in Brighton at the age of 84, with his wife by his side. And our sympathies are with his family. How evocative is that theme tune for those of us who grew up with it.”
Ed then commented that Tony’s stint on Crossroads was “extraordinary”, with Richard adding: “Because, of course, it was on every night.
“I used to sit there with my nan and my aunties and it was a form of babysitting because they’d just leave the room and I’d be sitting in front of Crossroads.”

Charlotte added: “It takes you back.”
Tony was born in Anglesey, Wales, in 1940 and later honed his acting skills at the Italia Conti theatre school.
After making a name for himself on stage, he became known as Dr Neville Bywater in the 1970s soap General Hospital, and also featured in the Doctor Who episode, The Green D3ath.
Following his stint on Crossroads, Tony notably starred in the stage adaptation of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at the London Palladium Theatre, where he portrayed Grandpa Potts, in 2004.
Emotional tributes poured in after the news of Tony’s d3ath broke over the weekend. Augustus Prew labelled Tony as a “magical man”, while Michael Rose, from The Michael Rose Organisation Ltd, praised his talents as an actor, dancer and singer.
