For more than ten years, Rob Rinder has been a familiar face on British television. Beginning with reality courtroom programme Judge Rinder in 2014, Rob’s profile has continuously grown.
His fame certainly accelerated in 2016 following his appearance on the fourteenth series of Strictly Come Dancing, but it’s his partnership with pal Rylan Clark that has elevated Rob into the British TV elite.
The BAFTA-winning Rob and Rylan’s Grand Tour, which broadcast on BBC Two in May 2024, instantly secured a follow-up series and left the London-born barrister frequently pursued by photographers.
However, he reveals there are occasions when the snappers show no interest in him. Chatting to Mel Giedroyc on the Where There’s A Will, There’s A Wake podcast, he revealed that he occasionally finds himself overshadowed by his companion.

“When I’m with Rylan, he’s so beautiful, and pictures of him — so, so many — make loads of money. Mine are not as valuable. So oftentimes, you hear the paps go ‘get out of the way.’ They don’t want me.”

Rob found himself upstaged by Rylan during their programme Rob and Rylan’s Grand Tour as well.
During a trip to the Casa Buonarroti in Florence, the residence of influential Renaissance master Michelangelo, an art specialist responded to Rob’s commentary with what he characterises as “aggressively undivided indifference,” while she proved more receptive to Rylan’s artistic observations.
He shared with The Telegraph: “She could not have given me more of her aggressively undivided indifference. Not in a horrible way, she was just a bit unimpressed with me.”

Rylan couldn’t help but express his awe at the ornate surroundings, exclaiming: “F*****g hell, it’s like Graceland in here.”
The historian present agreed with enthusiasm, responding: “That is exactly what this place is.”
Rob praised Rylan’s genuineness, saying: “That’s Rylan’s complete authentic gift; people respond to that so much more than the thirst to be loved.”
Despite their on-screen chemistry, Rob insists there’s no jealousy between them. Their adventures on Grand Tour and its Indian sequel have only strengthened their bond.

In a heartfelt chat with Bella magazine, Rylan shared: “We went into Grand Tour as acquaintances and left as friends. We’ve gone into A Passage to India as best friends and left as best friends.”
He also clarified the nature of their relationship: “Much as I love him, Rob isn’t my boyfriend. I love him too much to marry him.”
Rylan has been making headlines with his new beau, Kennedy Bates, recently spotted at BBC Radio 2 in the Park in Chelmsford. Rob remains unattached, but on the professional front, he’s teamed up in a new duo for his role as ‘The Executor’ in Channel 4’s fresh reality programme The Inheritance, where he shares the screen with Elizabeth Hurley.
He’s also had the opportunity to collaborate with renowned historian Ruth Goodman in Channel 5’s three-part series Rich Times, Poor Times.
