Disgraced MasterChef host Gregg Wallace has come under fire once again — this time over a “healthy” breakfast recipe that has fans in uproar. The 60-year-old TV personality, who was axed from MasterChef last year following allegations of inappropriate behaviour, shared a video of himself cooking a simple breakfast sandwich on his wellness account, @greggwallace.health. “Breakfast with @greggwallace.health,” he captioned the clip, showing himself frying heck sausages and an egg before stacking them with tomatoes and spinach on an English muffin.

But many viewers were quick to mock the post, with one unimpressed fan commenting: “I’m sorry, how were you on MasterChef? This is just so basic.” Another sneered: “Next episode: how to boil water.” Despite the backlash, others jumped to Gregg’s defence, pointing out that the TV star has long promoted healthy living over fine dining. One follower wrote: “Gregg has never claimed to be a Michelin chef and this page promotes his healthy eating programme (not fine dining/complex cookery).

“Whole point being simple recipes everyone can follow as part of turning over a new leaf as regards a sustainable, healthy diet/regime.”

Another added: “I’m not even Gregg’s biggest fan/supporter but your comment was objectively simplistic and unkind.”

The post comes as Gregg attempts to reinvent himself as a wellness coach after stepping away from MasterChef.

He recently launched a new website, GreggWallace.Health, offering personal coaching packages for £200 a month to help clients “feel better, look better, and have more confidence.”

In a promotional Instagram video, Gregg said: “You do not have to accept decline as a part of getting older. You can do something about this. You can be leaner, fitter, healthier, [and] have more energy.”

He went on: “I went on my own wellness journey, and I am healthier at 60 than I was at 30. I coach people over 50. I help them feel better and look better and have more confidence.”

The former BBC presenter, who famously lost five stone three years ago, told followers they could access “hundreds and hundreds of really healthy meals that only take minutes to make” through his site.

“We’ve been doing this now for nearly five years,” he added. “Working with nutritionists to produce really good, easy, really easy, healthy meals.”

Gregg’s latest social media venture follows a turbulent year for the TV star. Production company Banijay UK, which makes MasterChef, is still probing allegations of sexual harassment and inappropriate behaviour levelled against him during his tenure.

After stepping down from the show in November, Gregg told the Daily Mail he had been left devastated by the accusations, claiming: “Nobody from the BBC contacted me once these stories started breaking – absolutely nobody at all.”

He also admitted the ordeal pushed him to the brink, revealing: “I thought about suicide all the time.”
