According to friends of the Duke of Sussex, Harry wants to establish regular private contact with his father before attempting anything more ambitious with Prince William.
One idea reportedly being discussed is for Harry to have tea with Charles once a month, creating a relaxed setting where the King could spend more time not only with his younger son, but also with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
A friend told the Daily Mail that Harry wants his children to “properly get to know” their grandfather and become a more consistent part of his life.
The reported approach would be deliberately informal, with Harry said to prefer meetings away from the full machinery of Palace life.
Charles Seen as First Step
Harry’s relationship with his father is believed to be considerably further along than his relationship with William.
Friends reportedly see regular meetings with Charles as the most realistic place to begin.
The hope is that greater contact could gradually rebuild trust while also allowing Archie and Lilibet to form a stronger relationship with their grandfather.
That family connection is said to be one of Harry’s biggest priorities following his return to the UK.

“It’s too soon now but there is a hope and a belief that one day they will appear in public together and that will completely change the narrative,” the friend said.
The source also claimed: “There is communication between them.”
A joint public appearance would represent an extraordinary turnaround after years of estrangement.
Harry and William have rarely appeared together since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped back from royal duties and moved to the United States.
Their relationship has since been the subject of intense scrutiny, with repeated reports of deep mistrust and limited communication.
For Harry’s supporters, however, his return to Britain is being viewed as a chance to reset that story.
