Davina McCall has shared her thoughts on what happens after de@th, revealing that she has chosen to believe in the possibility that some part of her will live on. The presenter, 58, was joined by Professor Brian Cox on her podcast, Begin Again with Davina McCall, where the topic of life after de@th arose. Davina said: “I know that you’ve talked a lot before about de@th and what happens to us after de@th and it’s like ‘nothing.’
Brian, 58 agreed: “I don’t talk much about it because I’ve only got a one word answer. It’s nothing.” The former Big Brother host went on to reveal where she stands on the matter, saying: “What I really liked was I listened to something talking about atoms and how atoms never d!e.

“They just go somewhere else and that I’ve chosen to believe that I live on through that. Can you just explain the concept of an atom?”
The physicist explained: “These are the building blocks of us. They are very tiny. I always show a snowflake and they’re about a centimetre across. They’re made of water, these molecules.
“You can line up 100 million of them across a snowflake, so they’re about 100 million times smaller than a snowflake. Those are the building blocks and they’re eternal essentially.
“When we d!e, the building blocks of us are still there. They are not destroyed and they will ultimately go back into the earth. Then the earth will d!e, it may get incinerated by the sun.”
Brian explained that these atoms will then move into space, while others may recollapse into new star systems and planets, concluding that they are recycled in some form.
“They live for pretty much eternity,” he added.
Davina went on to share her belief that people can live on in other forms, declaring: “If we’re made up of atoms, we will carry on in something else, in some different form.”

The mum-of-three has been open in her conversations about de@th, particularly since her brain tumour diagnosis.
In November 2024, she underwent a craniotomy after doctors discovered a “very rare” colloid cyst in her brain. Davina remained in intensive care for three days after the gruelling five-hour surgery, which was a success.
Before having the operation, Davina forced herself to come to terms with the fact she may not survive, noting how several of her family members d!ed young.

She told Good Housekeeping UK: “I’ve been terrified of dying my whole life. My mum d!ed quite young, my dad d!ed quite young, and my sister d!ed very young.
“I thought, ‘I have to come to terms with the fact that I might not make it, so what do I have to do to make that okay?’ I had to let go of the outcome and be able to go to sleep without the abject horror of the idea of dying.
“I said to Michael, ‘If I go, I really need you to keep plugged in to the kids and stay in their lives.’ We were both scared, but we were honest and told each other that. It made the whole thing less daunting, knowing that everything was out on the table.”
The Long Lost Family presenter shares Holly, 24, Tilly, 22, and Chester, 19, with her ex-husband Matthew Robertson. Davina has been married to hairdresser Michael Douglas since 2025.
