Just hours after his sit down interview with the BBC, Earl Spencer shared some new details about his book, Swan Song: Diana, My Sister. Speaking at his ancestral estate Althorp with correspondent Mark Phillips they discussed Princess Diana, and why he sought to write the definitive story of her life, before he made a heartbreaking claim about his nephew, Prince Harry.
Spencer’s new book has opened fresh wounds as he addressed an unsettling conversation he had with King Charles following, Diana the Princess of Wales tragic death 30 years ago. In it, he claims,”[Prince Charles] said about Diana, ‘We’ll forget her soon enough.’ And he said it, I can’t really recreate it, but it was said with a bit of a hiss, to be honest. And I said, ‘I can’t believe you said that.'”
Buckingham Palace released a statement, shutting down Spencer’s claims. It read: “While we do not comment on books as a matter of principle, His Majesty is mindful that the pain of fraternal grief can cloud reason, affect judgment and colour memory in ways others do not recognise, even many years after such a loss.”

In a bombshell admission, Spencer admitted he no longer has a relationship with King Charles as he addressed Camilla.
“Look, he came into my life, as a brother-in-law and that relationship ended,” Spencer explained. “And so, you know, he is still my king. I respect the Crown and that’s it. There’s no personal relationship.”
When asked if he had any resentment towards Queen Camilla, Spencer said, “I’m not really in the business of resentment. I’m at a stage in my life where the past is the past.”
“I don’t hold resentments,” Spencer, told CBS Sunday Morning. As of his feelings regarding the royal family, “I’m not a vengeful, resentful person. I’m just an eyewitness to history.”

Spencer then took the correspondent to Althorp Estate in Northamptonshire, where Diana was laid to rest.
Asked if Harry’s “difficulty with the family and the press” echoes his late mother’s troubles, in a heartbreaking admission Spencer mused, “I do wonder if Harry’s feelings… I wonder how much it is connected to this very sad time.”
He added: “He was so young and I wonder if a more gentler understanding of his grief then might have helped him and everyone might have found a happier course ahead.”
Asked what kind of queen Diana would have made if the marriage had lasted and she had lived, Spencer replied, “I think Diana would have been a really amazing queen. To have a sort of superstar in that role would have been very good for Britain.”
