‘NO MIRACLE HAPPENED’ — Noah Woods’ father makes a heartbreaking admission after his body was tragically found during the search.
The father of missing three-year-old Noah Woods has paid an emotional tribute to his “sweetest and most innocent little boy” after a child’s body was found during the search in Suffolk.
Noah disappeared on Tuesday afternoon after running from an under-fives playground in Merriam Close, Brantham, triggering a huge search operation involving police, specialist teams and more than 1,000 volunteers.
The youngster, who was partly deaf and non-verbal, had been with his grandfather before disappearing.
On Wednesday evening, Suffolk Police Superintendent Tom Pearse confirmed that a child’s body had been found following the frantic search. Police divers recovered the body from a large pond close to the area where Noah vanished.
Noah’s devastated father has now spoken publicly about the unbearable loss facing the family.
“There are no words to describe the pain of this loss, we are all absolutely heartbroken,” he said.
“Noah was the sweetest and most innocent little boy, with nothing but love to give, and we are going to miss him so very much.”
Family Thanks Thousands Who Joined Search
Noah’s father also thanked the extraordinary number of people who came together in an attempt to bring his son home safely.
He said the three-year-old had touched people far beyond his own family, with members of the public across the country following the search and hoping for good news.
“It seems he has made an impact across the whole nation, you have all taken Noah into you’re own hearts,” he said.
He thanked people from the local community and further afield who joined the effort, saying their compassion had offered the family comfort and strength during an unimaginably difficult period.
For Noah’s family, hope had remained alive throughout the search.
His father said they kept telling themselves that the toddler might simply be hiding somewhere and could still be discovered safely.
“This was the most heartbreaking outcome for us,” he said.
“We were just hoping that he would be hiding somewhere obvious where someone could find him, that’s what we kept telling ourselves the whole time.”
Body Found Near Playground
Police confirmed that a body had been discovered in a lake close to the playground where Noah was last seen.
Shortly before 5.40pm on Wednesday, a forensics van was seen heading towards the pond where specialist divers had been searching.
The Metropolitan Police had deployed specialist divers to Decoy Pond, a fishing lake approximately 0.2 miles from the playground.
Search teams had spent hours examining the surrounding area after Noah disappeared.
Dog units, police officers and Coastguard helicopters were deployed while huge numbers of local residents joined the operation.
Brantham Parish Council had also asked people to check gardens, sheds and even underneath furniture in case Noah had hidden somewhere nearby.
Police Ask for Privacy for Noah’s Family
Following the discovery, Superintendent Pearse said officers’ thoughts were first and foremost with Noah’s loved ones.
“As a parent myself, I completely understand why people would want to help,” he said, praising the response from the Suffolk community.
He also asked people to give Noah’s family the time, privacy and space they now need.
The emotional impact of the discovery was felt across the search operation.
Volunteers who had helped look for Noah were seen crying and comforting one another after being briefed about the outcome.
‘You Will Be Loved Forever’
Noah’s father ended his tribute with a deeply personal message to his son.
“Noah, you will be loved forever, you will never be forgotten and we miss you so so much,” he said.
“It has been a privilege to be your parents and be able to have packed so much love in the short 3 years you were with us.”
Flowers, toys and other tributes have since been left close to the playground where Noah was last seen.
The search that began with desperate hope brought together emergency services and an extraordinary number of volunteers.
For Noah’s family, however, the outcome was the one they had feared most.
Their tribute now remembers a little boy they described simply as loving, innocent and unforgettable — while also thanking the thousands of strangers who refused to stop searching for him.
