A GB News presenter said that one tragic story had left her feeling “sick to the stomach”. Michelle Dewberry emotionally shared her sadness over the recent news of a newborn baby being stabbed to death in Sheffield.

She told the viewers: “We’ve just been hearing about the update on that newborn baby stabbed. I mean, let me just take a second to repeat that – a newborn baby stabbed.” The TV host then explained that it is an ongoing active case so she can’t get into it too much before adding: “But what is this world coming to when someone can see a newborn baby, irrespective of any circumstances at all, and actually have it within themselves to use a knife to harm that baby.”

Michelle continued: “I have goosebumps all over my arms, I feel sick to my stomach. I hope that whatever has gone on, I hope that justice prevails for that child.

“I can tell you it really has saddened me and I know that it has saddened many of you as well.”

It follows reports of police being called to an address in Holywell Heights on Sunday after concerns for the safety of a newborn.

The infant was pronounced dead at the scene and seven people were arrested on suspicion of murder, aged between 15 and 38. Two of those arrested, aged 26 and 37, have since been bailed.

A force spokesman confirmed a warrant had been obtained extending the length of time the other five people can be held in custody.

Detective Chief Inspector Tom Woodward said: “We recognise this is deeply distressing for those who would have loved to have a chance to love this baby girl, for the emergency services who responded, and for the community who will inevitably be shocked by this incident.

“Everyone involved in responding to this tragedy – from the first officers and paramedics on the scene to the detectives now leading the investigation – has felt the profound impact of this investigation.

“Our commitment to this little girl is unwavering. We will confront every difficult and distressing challenge and pursue every line of enquiry with determination and care to secure justice for her.”
